President Putin is using the threat of a nuclear showdown over the Baltic states to force Nato to back away from Russia’s border, according to notes of a secret meeting between intelligence figures from Moscow and Washington.

Western security chiefs are braced for the Kremlin to begin a series of “destabilising actions” in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania that would directly challenge Nato’s mutual defence pledge.

These could involve civil disturbances involving local ethnic Russians,

tet, my friend, I hope you are doing well.
Cold weather is behind us, and soon we will be
complaining about the heat, gnats, and mosquitoes.
-
Like you, I wonder about the use of our nukes.
I advocated nuking tora-bora as a signal to the world.
Sometimes I think the “threat” and the “fear”
is greater than the reality.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki are both thriving cities today.
I wish we could discuss this over a cold one.

One thing Russia can count on is that WE’LL BACK DOWN.

This is a bluff since he knows that Mother Russia would become a glowing, irradiated memory if he actually tried to follow through on his laughable playground threat.

Putler is trying to bully & split NATO by threatening nuclear war on specific countries. Last week it was Denmark. This week Baltics. Next week will be Poland probably.

Obama has outsourced NATO leadership to limp wristed Euros. So we get this constant taunting from Russia because they know Obama won’t react.

Actually, I was thinking something more along the lines of a fire plug; you know, for dogs to lift their legs on.

This psycho Putin might be insane enough to start a nuke war.

Not likely. Why would Putin nuke his best customers? Russians would starve like they did in the last big war & his kleptocracy will be destroyed. This is all psywar trying to bully. Nukes are all the Tin Pot Czar has to saber rattle with because in every other way Russia is a Potemkin super power.

I’m doing ok, spring is coming and hopefully
it will last a bit and not turn into a scorcher
too soon. I sure hope I live long enough to see
the end of this regime. In all my 70 years, I
have not see the like of it’s determined destruction
of everything that makes America and the American
people great.

I fear for the future, my niece is 37, a college grad,
married, wants to have a baby, and is pulling in good
money yet doesn’t have a clue about how close to the
abyss they are.
All we can do is survive, and keep our culture alive
in spite of all the blows and counter-mining by the
socialist statists in our midst.

I like it up here in the almost mountains, wish I
was a little farther in the hinterland but it beats
where I was in the city.

Fell down two weeks ago and damaged my shoulder,
it seems like every time I get motivated and going
good, something comes along to make it harder, but
being a good Marine, I just keep going. You just
reach deeper inside and pull out what you didn’t
realize you had.

Improvise, adapt, overcome!

Hope you and yours are well.
t.

Putin could attack Baltic states warns former Nato chief
Vladimir Putin could mastermind a hybrid attack on a Baltic state to test whether Nato would mobilise, warns Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Vladimir Putin has dangerous ambitions beyond Ukraine and aims to test Western resolve in the Baltic states, the former head of Nato has warned.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former secretary-general of the Atlantic alliance, said the Kremlin’s true goal is to shatter Nato solidarity and reassert Russian dominance over Eastern Europe.

“This is not about Ukraine. Putin wants to restore Russia to its former position as a great power,”

“Putin knows that if he crosses the red line and attacks a Nato ally, he will be defeated. Let us be quite clear about that. But he is a specialist in hybrid warfare,”

None of this would be going on if there was someone in the Administration with a pair. Putin knows Hussein doesn’t have any.

Timing of this is interesting. Zero is getting ready to slide the Iran nuke treaty under the door (Friday is day after tomorrow). Iran and Russia are pals, they share a new treaty since January. Zero and pooty-poot hate each other. This could get real interesting and ugly.

Putin is insane and things can escalate out of control very quickly. Putin won’t back down if he perceives a threat or chance of losing this chess match he is playing with a neutered NATO and the boob POTUS.

Sorry about your troubles.
I am about 2 hours away if I can help in any way.

Oldest child (age 35)
has 2 college degrees and has decided to go back to school (again).
Her and her husband have no kids and they don’t want any.

Middle child (age 32), his wife, and my 2 grand-kids are still
living with me and Mrs. R17 and sucking on our teats.
They just can’t seem to get their shit together.

Youngest child (age 29) has two college degrees and
is still trying to “find himself”...he thinks school is better than work.
Only he and the dear Lord only knows how much debt he has in student loans.

I would like to retire, but I can’t afford it!

A bluff, perhaps.

But are you sure about the remainder of your comment? Would Obama defend the Baltics with a nuke? Would he even defend them? Would Europe defend them with a nuke? Would Europe even defend them?

Poland, perhaps. Would anybody else join them?
