Stockton Smart Meters Explode After Truck Causes Power Surge

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A power surge left thousands without power for most of the day in Stockton after smart meters on their homes exploded on Monday.

The explosions started after a truck crashed into a utility pole, causing a surge around 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

So, the bureaucrats couldn't even figure out, a priori, that power surges can cause explosions in these wunnerful devices?

The “term” Smart Mete... will now have to be reexamined in light...of the event..with any eye towards the utility company Covering its......Liablities among other items...

One lady said it sounded like a car bomb. LoL!

I kind of doubt that a regular meter could handle 12,000 volts either.
The smart meter blowing up acts like a fusable link, keeping the high voltage from burning down your house.

If you drop a 10,000 volt wire on the neighborhood 110 volt wires, interesting things will happen to any meter, smart or dumb. I'm surprised a lot of other equipment inside of people's houses didn't explode too.

Its part of the California Green Energy Program, there is tax dollars in those meters along with the related mandates which created rate increases.
