Not part of his official accomplishments. Even Clinton did one thing right - he signed the bill that ended the 55 mph national speed limit.

To be clear and technically correct, there was no national speed limit.

The federal government does not have the authority to establish a national speed limit.

Speed limits are established by the states, not the federal government.

The federal government did enact a law that limited federal transportation funds for states that did not establish a 55mph limit.

Therefore, states could keep whatever speed limit they wanted but they would lose federal funds.

Federal control via tax dollars. . .a dangerous thing.
