No more lifetime “my job is safe forever” appointments for SC or senators. They build too much power and become ogliarchs by taking advantage of power infrastructures built within the system....
My idea of “term limiting” them would not only to have them up for retention, but ensure they couldn’t serve for life by setting a maximum number of years they could sit on the SCOTUS bench. I’d probably make it either 25 consecutive years or the age of 75, whichever came first. Thus, a President could appoint a 65 year old judge to SCOTUS if he wanted, but the justice would be ineligible to continue serving after a decade.
Term limits for justices is a waste of time and legislative effort.
The Constitution already has a mechanism for dealing with a Supreme Court that is stacked to favor one party over another. And it has been used by Presidents in the past to fix things.
Nothing is sacred about 9 justices. The current President simply appoints justices to the court until things are brought back into balance. We’ve had as few as 7 justices and as many as 17.
“Sounds like you were at the wrong church.”
every church is the wrong church.
these were the latin mass folks ... too pious for right-to-life
Wow. That sucks.
not really. they usually keep their filth to themselves. They started getting mouthy about why people shouldn’t vote, I gave them an earful and the 3 of them told me to get lost. they were sticking with their pastor who is an infrequent voter.
