Maybe Ted is embarrassed by his poor español. He shouldn't be. His Spanish couldn't possibly be worse than LA Mayor, Villraigosa's, Castro's (the Texas One), or Geraldo Rivera's.
BTW, Why should an Irish/Italian/Cuban/etc.- American speak Spanish anyway?

Sen. Cruz can surely hone his delivery of the Spanish text for several television commercials or speeches in Spanish, with perfect Mexican dialect pronunciation. He doesn't need to join a Spanish language debate. This alone would be worth several million votes.
Incidentally, Cruz has an advantage over Rubio, who probably speaks with a Peninsular accent that is distasteful to Mexicans.
