Senator Ted Cruz's Contradictory Position on Illegal Immigration
American Thinker ^ | March 28, 2015 | Allan J. Favish

On March 23, 2015, United States Senator Ted Cruz of Texas gave a speech announcing that he is running for the Republican nomination for President. In his speech he said the following about illegal immigration:

Instead of the lawlessness and the president’s unconstitutional executive amnesty, imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders.

And imagine a legal immigration system that welcomes and celebrates those who come to achieve the American dream.

Missing from Sen. Cruz’s speech was anything about how the nation should treat the illegal immigrants who are here. Sen. Cruz’s position on this point has been contradictory.

Yup. I am consistently beating that drum, and I do not expect to stop until after election day 2016. I won’t disparage Walker, because I think he is also a good guy. But Cruz is the one, and that won’t be changing for me. I don’t care what the media tells me, because they lie.

Agree. Welfare is what sustains the Dim party votes.

One cannot say he will grant amnesty or like bambi will encourage millions more.
No one in politics will ever send home all illegals.
I like that he will secure borders first and not grant citizenship to illegals while further shafting immigrants applying legally.
Are you heavily invested in another candidate and trying to influence Cruz support? Cause I don’t get it, no matter how many words you use, your point.

All true my friend. All true. I don’t think Walker is a bad guy but lets face it he has all the charisma of a flea circus and he’s not really all that conservative. He’s the guy who will win the nomination and lose the general election. Walker will simply not inspire the independents. If perchance Walker did become President he would really end up being a placeholder for the next Democrat as he does not seem to be on fire about anything. We cannot afford for that to happen.

I have said a few times and I’ll repeat that right now the only two people who IMO have the force of personality to effect real change in this country are Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. All the others will be same ole same ole.

yep, welfare is what sustains Dem votes as you said, and it’s what attracts “new Dem voters” from south of the border as well.

I bet all of the illegals who come here for welfare are bad news, and will vote Dem. I don’t think the universe of those who come to work - though still illegal - are anywhere near that damaging to the country. Priorities.....low hanging fruit - with this, we could shrink this problem dramatically.

Cruz has done the best on this issue of all the potential candidates.

I refuse to participate in the usual circular firing squad, Mr Favish.

I don’t see anything contradictory about Cruz’s statements.

” As other FReepers have noted...they did that in AZ, and it worked!”

The freeways were chock full of Jed Clampettmobiles heading for Mexico.

Day after day, after day. It worked great!!

Of course, they have mostly failed

So Mr. Allan J. Favish, it’s apparent that you wrote the headline and then went on and on trying to support your premise.

You failed.

I’ll be voting for Cruz....

So you would consider opposition to legalizing the 10s of millions of illegals currently in the country (with citizenship and a tripling via chain migration sure to follow) an unreasonable demand for perfection?

I support Cruz. I say that a lot. I wouldn't want anyone to be confused. Whenever I talk about 2016, I say that I support Cruz. That's because I support Cruz.

I've got no idea who you support.

Of the candidates out there, I support Cruz.

He’s problematic on illegal immigration, though not as much so as some of the other candidates, however—and to me it’s too important an issue to ignore, since legalization will give us Latin American voting patterns ever after.

BUt it looks like you’re happy ignoring it.

I never want to support a candidate at the expense of considering if he holds a country-damning position.
