Cruz Control: A heartfelt missive to the liberally biased reporters in my town.
The American Spectator ^ | March 27, 2015 | Patrick O'Hannigan

Posted on 03/28/2015 2:06:21 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Dear journalists: May I have a public word with you, especially if you edit the Raleigh News and Observer? You probably take a dim view of unsolicited advice from a junior member of the guild, but I think I can save you some grief in the run-up to next year’s presidential election, with an assist from the first official candidate for the Republican nomination. That candidate would, of course, be Senator Ted Cruz. Many of the stories about him are written with the same “Get a load of this guy!” tone regardless of where they come from, but I thought a letter like mine ought first to be addressed to the media people in my own backyard.

You know better than I do that Senator Cruz does not have many friends in newsrooms. Nevertheless, it is a mistake to think of him as a buffoon the way you seem to do. In a petulant editorial published March 25, you led with the fact that he once quoted from “Green Eggs and Ham” during a Senate filibuster. Perhaps you thought that was disrespectful. Some of us remember Cruz scoring points with his winking tribute to Dr. Suess, and let’s face it: any legislative body where Joe “Malaprop” Biden has the tie-breaking vote cannot afford to put on airs, anyway. Do you not see the irony in citing a speech that you want the rest of us to think was sub-par? Disdain is not the same as argument. Moreover, the only other filibuster to make news in recent memory was done by another Texan, Wendy Davis, and nothing she said was quotable. People remember her pink sneakers more vividly than her marathon defense of abortion....

If the media has to prop up the rats two best candidates (Clinton, Warren) by tearing down the best Constitutionalist in this country barring Alito, then nothing said will matter.

Better off calling the media idiots to their face.

Let them be. I prefer the newsroom idiots continue to indulge themselves.

I suspect that the so called “journalists” who are the subject of your well-written advice may not be bright enough to appreciate its wit and wisdom. Their handlers have already concluded and told them that Cruz is a buffoon and target for their ridicule and wrath. They do not have to think.

Maybe the lemmings just want to keep their jobs, and, perhaps, get the opportunity to work for the government when their miserable enterprise fails and the media are absorbed by the regime.

More and more people are getting bored by the predictable use of the Democratic playbook of the blame game, character assassination, name calling, false accusations, etc. Not sure they can connect the dots between failing liberal news media and lightweight reporting.

Are any schools today teaching true journalism?

I don’t think much of the GOP, but of anyone Cruz is the most promising to do what needs to be done, disqualify the media cartel. I doubt it will happen, most conservatives sit on the edge of their seats like children when grilled by the vermin in the media and I doubt Cruz will vary much from that, he might though. Its like they somehow forget the political game of rule of threes when someone has media credentials is sitting in front of them.

If anyone watched that filibuster, they had to be impressed with Cruz' strength, wit and knowledge of his subjects.

There were no teleprompters that guided him, just true belief and knowledge.

I can't wait for the debates, because, regardless of the subject or the slanted way that the "moderator" will pose the "question" Ted will turn it to his advantage and whip both the opposition and equally important, the "neutral moderator".

If he kicks the moderator in the "virtual crotch" often enough, they will whimper off to the side and not try to bust his chops again.

The News and Observers’ motto is famously:

“You knew it is a Democrat newspaper when you paid your quarter”

UUhhhhhh, using an analogy by a former high government official, it depends on your definition of what: “...true IS...”

Cruz’s Achilles heel is his citizenship. The Dems, with their barking dog media, will not allow him to escape a thorough SCOTUS review. They will join with the GOPe to sink his campaign on the eligibility issue. That’s a personal opinion, take it or leave it.

The meme is always "Republican candidates are stumbling idiots; Democrats are polished intellectuals."

George Bush was a doofus, Gerald Ford was a klutz, Sarah Palin was a homespun bubblehead, Ronald Reagan was a senile somnambulist ... But Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar. Barack Obama was editor of the Harvard Law Review. Dimmy Carter was a nuclear scientist. And then there's Hillary, with her Wellesley connections and her vast experience in the public sector.

See the pattern? Now how do you suppose the media are going to paint Ted Cruz?

I think it should have been reviewed by SCOTUS with the Obama controversy. Since it wasn’t, I doubt they will take it up now. Even if they did, I think they would declare Cruz eligible.

Cruses biggest obstacle will be to get his message out WITHOUT the help of the biased media who are absolutely against him. His only chance will be to get on FOX news as often as he can or purchase ABC, CNN, MSN, etc. and fire all the liberals. He HAS the potential but gathering the support of conservatives via the media will be his challenge.

Fox News is not going to help out Cruz. You are correct in that the winning Republican candidate is the one that will understand he’s running against the MSM and not the Democrats. Makes no difference if he’s GOP-E or not, the winner will run against the media.

“See the pattern? Now how do you suppose the media are going to paint Ted Cruz? “

According to Cruz they’ve abandoned the usual two descriptions of “evil” or “stupid” (something I’ve noticed myself) and created a new one for him: “crazy”.

You are correct that Fox News will not help Ted Cruz. They are part of The Ministry of Propaganda and they also work for The Cheap Labor Express. Anyone not willing to abandon the rule of law and surrender the country to the illegal aliens and their employers will be a target.
