In the 90s he was fair. During Bush, than Obama he was way off in the netherworld. He seems to be inching back to being fair on several fronts. I think he’s concluded the left has lost any moral argument they may have with their whitewash of Islam and their new culture of constant faux outrage.
I don’t think he was ever fair, but he understands that some on the left expect 100% loyalty. Anything you say that does not follow the script and they are all over you. Bill has an independent streak and doesn’t like being told he can’t disagree.
My favorite version of Bill Maher is in “Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.” That was before I knew how much of a raving lib he was.
