I’d guess schizophrenia or something like that. He had to have some sort of real psychosis to kill 150 people without a care.

Or be a muslim.

Sound logical. He wants to continue flying so he kills 150 people including himself. How’s the flying in hell, Kolleg??

How old was your father’s friend when that happened.

They have pointed out that this guy was a ripe age for the onset of schizophrenia and the like.

If you have a psychosis like schizophrenia ... you may be compelled to do it.

If he had been a Muslim, he could’ve said Allah Akbar, brandished an AK, and threatened to fly through every skyscraper between Dusseldorf and San Francisco...and they would have rolled out the red carpet to the cockpit lest they offend.

I was thinking the same thing. Unimaginable stress and suffering by the innocent passengers, which included many high school kids.

“Yea, that is lots worse than murdering 150 people.”

To a man with no belief in eternal consequences, it is meaningless. It just ensures you will be more famous than if you swallow a pistol.

I want to say he was in his early 50's. It was a long time ago.

I just remember he was one of the funniest people you would ever want to meet. Always had a joke to tell and it was always a good one. The last time I saw him, he was a shell of himself. Very angry.

I just remember overhearing conversations between my parents. His wife was a nurse and was constantly nagging at him about health stuff, cholesterol, etc. Was always limiting his diet. One day he brought home a carton of eggs (which she would have never let him eat) and cooked the entire dozen and sat down and ate them in front of her, which led to a huge fight. It was just weird stuff like that.

If I worked my way up from being a flight attendant to pilot/co-pilot of a large complex commercial Jet, I would be proud of myself and nobody could take that away from me.

I want more information. It still doesn’t Jive with killing the passengers too.

Well, we now know the answer to the question why would a guy who loves flying so much crash the plane. Looks like he wouldn’t have been flying much longer and should not have been flying on that day.

Why didn’t the doctors contact the airlines?

Here such notification would be a HIPPA violation.

Irrelevant. HIPPA does not apply in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Yes, that's why I said HERE such notification would be a HIPPA violation.

Better a 149 innocents die than medical records be shared...

Yes. Especially so for parents with children aboard. Lubitz deserves hell. Hope he gets it.

As I posted on another thread, I believe he was afraid this would end his airline career and he could not take that. He loved flying and was, by all accounts, very enamored with his job.

The German police found torn up prescriptions and a doctors excuse for time off, including that very day.

He flipped out believing his career was over, so what better way to ‘go out in a blaze of glory’ to a flying career than to crash an airliner into a mountainside?............

If you are psychotic you should not be in a position to murder 149 innocent people with the turn of a knob. Lufthansa and the pc idiots in Germany should all be sued into homelessness.
