In his first week as a presidential candidate, Ted Cruz raked in $2 million, doubling his teams initial goal of $1 million for the time period.
The Texas Republican, who officially announced his bid for president on Monday, had pulled in that figure by Thursday night, his aides confirmed.
He hit the initial $1 million goal early Tuesday morning, hours after announcing, his team said, the result in part of a swanky New York City fundraiser Monday night and online donations.
Cruz, a favorite of the conservative grassroots, wont be the pick of GOP establishment megadonors and still faces an uphill battle to raise the massive sums that are critical to running a successful campaign. But by beating fundraising expectations this week, the senator was able to project strength as other likely presidential contenders, like Marco Rubio and Rand Paul, move closer to officially joining him in the presidential field.

Be afraid, GOP-wing of the Democrat party.
Be very afraid.
ping
Does he have Secret Service protection yet? Establishment Washington (EW), which includes the leftist Democrat party and the GOP-e, are pretty ruthless folks.
“Be afraid, GOP-wing of the Democrat party.
Be very afraid.”
I’m sure they are. All the conservatives here in AZ that I know are backing Cruz.
I have a slowly increasing hope every morning that I wake and the democrat party/GOPe has not managed to destroy his campaign with lies.
He needs early, sustained, support to build a wave that will roll over the GOPe candidates and other pretenders.
He can do this with our help and support.
Cruz is doing his 10 city fundraising tour...the $$$ are going to pile on in...setup recurring donations if you can..$25..$50...whatever I can I’m doing.
Yeah, Cruz is certainly an unelectable fringe candidate with no money and no chance, eh?
Have you seen any finalized calendar for the GOP 2016
presidential primary schedule?
Head’s up!
“Have you seen any finalized calendar for the GOP 2016
presidential primary schedule?”
No I haven’t.
Remind me, did Mr. Obama ever attend any “swanky” fundraisers, as described by the media?
All the “nay-sayers” fear Cruz to the utmost. He is EASILY much smarter than 99.9% of them, including odumbo, the demodummie’s idea that he (odumo) is the smartest man in the world.
I am not saying that Cruz WILL BE the next POTUS but as of today, he (IMO) has a much greater chance than all I have seen thus far. We will not know the outcome until Nov. 2016 so get out the popcorn.
Excellent!
I donated to his campaign last night, and will do so again.
Every payday he gets some money from now on. I think of it as an investment in my future.
Naturally, that crazy right wing politico site would be pushing him! /s
Even the lefties can’t help but notice...
I’m in heavy student debt right now, working part time and full time so in two years I can pay most of my loans off and start a life with the future Mrs. Erod. Point is I gave $10 this week while waiting for the train, it wasn’t much, but at this point it’s all I can afford. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who did this, it feels good to see these numbers and feel like you’re contributing to victory.
