Politicians frequently claim theyve been misquoted or misunderstood by reporters. See Scott Walkers spokeswomans response to a Wall Street Journal report about his position on amnesty.
But theres a sure way to avoid that: Keep reporters out of the room.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports thats what Gov. Walker did when he spoke this week to the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. It was part of a series featuring presidential contenders.
Id love to tell you what he had to say that was important enough for him to travel thousands of miles from home, but I cant, Travis Arbon writes. The event was closed to the media.
However, Arbon adds, although traditional media outlets were denied access, that didnt stop the chamber from encouraging attendees to share the days events on social media through #AZLeadership on Twitter.
Of course, the real expert at holding meetings behind closed doors is President Obama.
Just this week he huddled with Hillary Clinton without letting reporters know, and his spokesman says hell likely do so again. The president also hosted a meeting with Muslim leaders in February and held back a list of attendees for days, despite repeated press inquiries. Expect more such gatherings during the final months of the administration.

This does not make me trust him.
If Walker wants us to believe his White House road conversion to a rule of law stance on illegal aliens he will have to be specific about what he intends to do as President about the border and the 30 million illegal aliens, who are not immigrants because they did not apply to be immigrants.
His speaking to the CoC and the recent revelations about his more moderate position on illegals is very concerning to me. He needs to come clean and he needs to come clean immediately or suffer the death of a thousand cuts.
He can’t woo conservatives and the CoC cheap labor coalition at the same time. Thew chasm is too wide for him to straddle it. What side are you on Mr. Walker? We have a right to know.
PING
Conservative talk radio in Phoenix is all over this, and it ain’t in Walker’s favor. Also talking about his NH CoC meeting
It is a 90 minute luncheon that requires tickets. Why does everyone think the media should attend for free as if it were a press conference?
Good grief. Scott Walker has managed - within the space of a single week - to turn me from being a fairly ardent supporter to be a very ardent opponent.
This is beginning to have the stench of a good cop, bad cop ruse from the upper echelon of the GOP-e leadership and the RNC.
They run Jeb Bush (bad cop) to drive the conservative base insane with worry and offer Scott Walker (good cop) to elicit a huge, collective sigh of relief from GOP voters who mistakenly believe we "dodged a bullet."
Closed event and Chamber of Commerce means more statist BS I suspect if Walker is the candidate. The Chamber of Commerce which is currently a fascism supporting gang is every bit as dangerous as the ACLU and any other tyrannical entity out there.
Bad move Walker, really bad move...
Why publicize consorting/collaborating with the enemy? Unless it was to warn her that if she runs, he's got the goods on her to put her away, what good could come of such a contact?
But Scott Walker can’t blame other candates of attacking him or accuse them of taking him out, he has done it to him self.
Scott Walker has no one to blame but himself.
He was my 2nd teir canadate if Ted Cruz didn’t get the OK.
Ted Cruz has my full support.
WEASEL WALKER
And you, an outsider, are looking for a rumble I take it?
This bench of ours is plenty deep and just as wide, this cycle. Not one of them is a clown.
Stick with Hillary and the girls. You’ll be much happier. There you will find nothing to insult, no “clowns”, just solid corruption.
Mitt Walker assuring the Chamber that not to worry the border will remain poruous and the cheap labor will keep coming across. The 11 million will get to stay. As I have suspected from jump street. Walker is severely conservative. :=)
If he hasn’t already, he sure appears to want to, very badly. Had hoped he had gotten squared away on this but he is seriously just making it worse with everything he’s done lately.
