Freedom, education, equality, empowerment—these were the ideals that my father struggled for. He taught me determination. He taught me love, he taught me courage, he taught me what the word strength really means. But, more than anything, he taught me gratitude. And he taught me to value everything that was provided to me.

Except to get the hell out of islam.

Dear Zainab;

First of all, condolences upon the loss of your beloved father.

May I suggest you look for your answers to the dreadful experiences that you have suffered, by asking, in your heart, for the One True God to reveal His truth to you. In your Q’oran, there is a character named Isa. “Isa” is the Man known by the Greek form of His Name, which is “Jesus”. The Q’oran considers Him to be a Great Prophet, but He is much, much more.

There are four eyewitness accounts of the life of Isa when He walked the earth. They are called The Four Gospels”. In all four of these accounts, there are stories that include Isa’s attitude toward women.

Contrary to what feminist and liberation theologians assert, Isa was extremely fair and good to women. Even those whose social class or nationality were different, He was always faithful to grant their requests, even after a little verbal sparring on occasion. The important thing was that He talked WITH them, not “down to them”, and even if He spoke a hard truth, he never cast them aside or ordered them out of His Presence.

The “Old Testament” also has some great stories that include women. Yaelle was a warrior, Deborah was a Judge, Ruth was a foreign widow who eventually became the great grandmother of King David, and Esther was a Queen who risked her life to save her People. In Chapter 31 of Proverbs, there is a woman who is a wife, a mother, an artist, a businesswoman, and a dealer in Real Estate! In fact, it was the nameless woman of Proverbs 31 who convinced me to drop my feminist conceits and embrace Isa as my Lord and Savior.

In any case, I know of NO case in the 4000 years of the Judeo-Christian ethic on Planet Earth of a Beloved Daughter being refused the honor of burying her own father! Would ANY servant of the Most High ever do something like that?

Isa said an interesting thing while he was here. He said “By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them.” What are the fruits of Islam, especially for women? Personally, I can’t understand any female person embracing Islam, only being trapped in it.

I am a widow in difficult economic circumstances, yet I live alone, handle my own finances, am self-employed, ride a motorcycle, and am the Director of Music in a little evangelical church. I do my own taxes, teach children music, post threads daily on the internet, and take care of myself. I shudder to think of what my life would be like in an Islamic country.

If you are totally confident that you have the truth about spiritual things, then a sincere look at the Gospel will not shake you. If, however, the fruits of Islam with regard to women has left you with unease and doubt, a look at the Gospels will change everything.

Be brave, be free, be open...check it out!

Love
ML
