The problem is that the administration has filled these agencies with cronies and feel-good hires. They can’t afford to lose that level of “leadership”.

The best thing they can do is convince the media to ignore these stories. This is beyond the ability of anyone to spin.

“The problem is that the administration has filled these agencies with cronies and feel-good hires. “

Filling important jobs with cronies, toadies, and lackeys has become the America way, and a significant contributor to the decline of America. It is so bad that the top dogs are afraid of prosecuting or penalizing those involved because they believe it will turn into a whistle blower fest that will inevitably lead up the ladder. So they let things slide.

My expanding cynicism has made me feel there is typically more to our major malfunctions like 9-11 or the big 2009-9 recession than gets reported. No one got disciplined or at Fannie & Wall Street prosecuted. It is because we have a political elite culture where the motto of our leaders has become “we need to look forward not backward” and hold no one accountable because accountability will rock the boats and push blame up the ladder.
