California Loosens Jessica's Law Rules On Where Sex Offenders Can Live

By KATE MATHER State will stop enforcing Jessica's Law provision that prohibits all sex offenders from living near schools California officials announced Thursday that the state would stop enforcing a key provision of a voter-approved law that prohibits all registered sex offenders from living near schools.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said it would no longer impose the blanket restrictions outlined in Jessica's Law that forbids all sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of a school or park, regardless of whether their crimes involved children.

California justices void blanket ban on where sex offenders can live California justices void blanket ban on where sex offenders can live High-risk sex offenders and those whose crimes involved children under 14 will still be prohibited from living within a half-mile of a school, the CDCR emphasized. Otherwise, officials will assess each parolee based on factors relating to their individual cases, the agency said.

The shift comes nine years after California voters approved the controversial law, which has made it difficult for some sex offenders to find places to live.

The California Supreme Court on March 2 unanimously ruled that Jessica's Law violated the constitutional rights of parolees living in San Diego County who had argued that the limitations made it impossible for them to obtain housing. As a result, advocates said, some parolees were living in places like riverbeds and alleys.

Some parolees are living in places like riverbeds and alleys because they are not allowed to live within 2,000 feet of a school? Words fail me.....

Welcome to california, where child molesters and rapists have more rights than law abiding citizens.

Up is down, and whatever passes as morals in california have been legislated out of existence.

Here in NY they give them Section 8 Housing and welfare when they are released for as long as their parole lasts.

One nearby joker just got sent back to the Klink for violating his parole.

The cops/prosecutors/judges need criminals to commit more crimes to keep the wheels turning.

I was curious one day and checked the sex offender list, popped in a zip code and I found three registered sex offenders living in an apartment with families located right next to en elementary school.

2,000 feet is about 666 yards.

Apparently 666 is offensive to sexual offenders.

And, no, laws don’t seem to mean much anymore to certain people. Only us.

Good question.. what was DONE secretly or hidden or IGNORED for a long long time..
Is now done openly in your face DARING you do anything about it..

The BAD guys know most americans are apathetic, afraid, or are waiting for SOMEBODY ELSE to “do something”..

What’s never spoken “IS” these things have been going on for a long time..
Republicans deny or don’t care the top party officials are COMPLICIT..in it..

Forget the democrat party.. UNTIL the republican party is “cleaned up”.. (IF POSSIBLE)..
