Mechanical Engineering is not an easy major, or profession. I presume Bill Nye wasn't very good at it - which is why he took up the 'Bill Nye Science Clown' schtick - but I wouldn't denigrate Mechanical Engineers. This one just turned out to be an A-Hole.

I have no intention of denigrating Mechanical Engineers, don't believe I did, my nephew is one. That being said I will stick with I wasn't aware they were considered Scientists, they are after all Engineers. Perhaps improperly, then again not, I was question if Nye was padding his resume.

It’s not a far leap to say that. We are methodology based problem solvers and use the scientific method in daily work. There’s also a lot of overlap in classes as math, chemistry, physics and in some cases biology.

Engineering to me is basically all about applied science.
