There are many variations of "creationism" that don't require believing in the young earth theory, ie: that the earth is 6,000 or 10,000 or some other similar number of years old.

As someone posted: maybe every day was a billion years. As another critic of Sam Harris, the rabid atheist pointed out, he interprets the Bible more dogmatically and literally than 99% of Christian preachers.

There are even non-theistic "creationists", who look at the universe and see design, without any speculation as to who the designer is.

Has Ted Cruz every remarked on the age of the Earth?
