The notion that all who believe in a Creation by God are Young Earth Creationists is just plain silly.

Creationism can range all the way from believing that God pushed the button that initiated the Big Bang, and has stayed out of the way since, to the Young Earth types.

Something you never hear about in this regard. It is official government policy that the “Origin Stories” of Native Americans be treated with the utmost respect, despite the fact some of them are a lot sillier than the Genesis account. Jeering at them in this way could probably get you fired.

So on what basis is it OK to jeer at the beliefs of a much larger number of Americans? Why can’t we respect the beliefs of others?

I’m not a Young Earth Creationist, but I respect those who are.

Me too; not a YEC, but who is this lib to say a YEC can't run for President? I think global warming dupes are loons, and I wouldn't vote for one, but I wouldn't say one of them couldn't be President! Heck, we've had four or so!

But that's the "Progressive" way: shut out from the debate those with whom they disagree.
