RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl says he was tortured in the five years he was held captive by the Taliban, beaten with a copper cable as he spent months blindfolded and chained spread-eagle to a bed.
The 28-year-old soldier described his harsh treatment in Afghanistan in a letter released Thursday by his defense lawyer.

Great quote by John Wayne I think. The guy walked straight into their hands. I have no pity whatsoever.

We had to get him back because of his poor health.
Probably another lie. Let’s see his health records.

Let this be a lesson to everyone thinking about deserting their assigned position, screwing their buddies over and joining the Taliban.

Another reason why deserting is a really bad idea- the enemy is usually going to treat you worse than your own side is.

So, he deserted to them and they were mean to him. And that's our concern why? Maybe - going out on a limb here - maybe he shouldn't have deserted to them in the first place?
Cry me a freakin' river.

And did he describe the maltreatment of the soldiers who lost their lives looking for him? I think loss of life trumps anything that was done to him, and they might still be alive if not for him. Death by firing squad for desertion at time of war, it is what’s appropriate!

Bergdahl describes maltreatment at the hands of the Taliban Good. Let that be a lesson to anyone thinking about defecting to the enemy.
