Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has authorized a short-term needle exchange program to help contain an outbreak of HIV in a county with 79 confirmed new infections since January.
Pence on Thursday declared a public health emergency in Scott County, about 30 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky. He ordered the state health department to set up a command center to coordinate HIV and substance abuse treatment and establish a mobile unit to enroll people in a state-run health program.
Indiana bars needle exchange programs, but Pence authorized a short-term exchange on the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials.

Unfortunately, only about 50percent get the telltale Bulls eye rash associated with Lyme. Others are shuttled around for years to specialists who misdiagnose them or to or Nero symptoms, psychological problems, Parkinson’s, MS and others. There will be a protest at the ISDC on May 1 in Arlington in order to get Lyme the attention it really deserves. Actually, I will, and also, you’ve got a person to mention Lyme Disease further. I would also add that ticks aren’t all in tall grass, they can also be in trees, pets, or even on the clothing or tents, and you don’t neccessarily feel a tick, never found the tick that gave me Lyme disease, I did have my entire body covered in red rash and a fever of 103 degrees, felt cold on July 4 but people wouldn’t believe anything was wrong until they saw “patch” rashes on my arms, back and neck.
Never saw the tic on me either. ‘Been on antibiotics for over 3 yrs and it does seem to keep the symptoms to a minimum along with hyperbaric treatments. Prayers up and sending healing for you.
AFAIK, I am fine, I shudder to think that plenty more people get way worse. It’s easily possibly the most understated disease out there.
