Why it actually matters how presidential candidates announce
Yahoo Politics ^ | 3/26 | Matt Bai

The announcement generally tells you, of course, what kind of overarching theme a candidate intends to pursue. A lot of governors and senators choose their childhood homes or their statehouses, or some other local venue that contrasts the futility of modern Washington with our more idealized notions of local politics. That’s the classic outsider motif.

That Cruz chose the stage at Liberty University in Virginia, rather than a venue in Texas, was a clear signal that he sees himself as a vehicle for a spiritual and ideological uprising, rather than a geographic one. Like Pat Robertson and Pat Buchanan before him, Cruz intends to run on values, rather than on governance, and that’s probably the path that best suits both his temperament and the political reality.

I note that this column reminds us of Hillary’s announcement in early 2007. She never actually made a speech in front of an audience to declare her candidacy. She released a half baked video of her on the internet, in which she said she was forming an exploratory committee. She never actually announced she was running for president in a declarative manner.

He’s talking about Obama.

Whaddya expect from a news organization that hires reporters who think that "God given rights" are a "bizarre" concept?

He’s not running for president of Texas, he’s running for President of the United States of America.

Here's another reason cruz likely chose Liberty University as his venue...it was one of the first institutions to stand up and challenge Obamacare in the courts:

Supreme Court rejects challenge to Obamacare by Christian university

That’s the classic outsider motif.

Which motif is it when you use a buddy/neighbor's living room?

It actually matters how presidential candidates announce unless they are a democrat then the media will carry the load for them.

The world will little note nor long remember what Ted Cruz said when he announced his campaign this week, even after he has become president and abolished all taxes and legalized machine guns and replaced school recess with mandatory prayer.

The veracity of ad hominems, falsifications, red herrings, etc., by the liberals is directly proportional to the fear they have of any given idea, person or both. LIBERALS FEAR CRUZ THE MOST!

As long as that praying ain't done on a rug with your tail in the air, I won't have one little problem with it.
