Killer co-pilot had to STOP his training because he was depressed and suffering 'burnout': First clu

The co-pilot of the doomed Germanwings Airbus A320 locked his captain out of the cockpit before deliberately crashing into a mountain to 'destroy the plane', it was sensationally revealed today.

French prosecutor Brice Robin gave further chilling details of the final ten minutes in the cockpit before the Airbus A320 plunged into the French Alps killing 150 people.

Revealing data extracted from the black box voice recorder, he said the co-pilot - named as 28-year-old German Andreas Lubitz - locked his captain out after the senior officer left the cockpit.

At that point, Lubitz used the flight managing system to put the plane into a descent, something that can only be done manually - and deliberately.

He said: 'The intention was to destroy the plane. Death was instant. The plane hit the mountain at 700kmh (430mph).

'I don't think that the passengers realised what was happening until the last moments because on the recording you only hear the screams in the final seconds'.

arlier in the flight, Mr Brice said Lubitz's responses, initially courteous, became 'curt' when the captain began the mid-flight briefing on the planned landing of the plane.

The captain - named by local media as German father-of-two Patrick Sonderheimer - then left the cockpit but found himself locked out when he tried to re-enter.

Mr Robin said: 'We hear the pilot asking the co-pilot to take over and we hear the sound of a chair being pushed back and a door closing so we assume that the captain went to the toilet or something.

So the co-pilot is on his own, and it is while he's on his own that the co-pilot is in charge of the plane and uses the flight management system to start the descent of the plane.

Was he Muslim - an ISIS sympathizer? Was he going for a nuclear facility? Did the three fighters France shot out after him drive him from his target?

He means video-gamer.

Apparently he has some fascinating hate-on with the millions of people who enjoy video games and do not commit violent acts.

If that’s the case, this story will disappear quickly and the media will pretend it never happened.

Agree..... yet a simple two person policy , no lone zone aka flight attendant has to enter the flight deck an stay till either pilot or co-pilot returns or replaced by another attendant etc .. That is a quick an simple “fix” IMHO.....

I heard earlier -- on the radio -- that US airlines have to bring a Flight Attendant into the cockpit before either the Pilot or Co-Pilot can leave. Thus there will be two people in the cockpit at all times.

Can anyone verify this?

AHA. He was a global warming, carbon footprint dimwit.

Lemme get this straight- the pilot has a key to his car door so he can` lock himself out of his own car unless he`s stupid- but a pilot doesn`t have a key to his own cockpit door?

No airline industry can be this stupid. But they are.

If the captain was armed he could have at least tried to shoot the lock open on the door. Like on submarines we need to start arming all captains.

Bringing back the 3rd (flight engineer) in the cockpit will cost the airlines money, so that won’t happen, unless they rig the system so taxpayers pay.

Maybe they could require that a steward or stewardess enter the cockpit when the pilot/co-pilot leave. Then there is always the ability to open the door if the remaining person is incapacitated.

The cynic and conspiracy theorist in me tells me that the fly by wire control systems are susceptible to modifications that could render pilot control inoperable. In other words the plane could be turned into a drone. If it not impossible, then it is possible. They are already discussing hacked drive by wire controls in cars.

I have not wanted to fly anywhere for years now. No desire at all, and this suits me just fine.

They’ll find what his motive was. My hunch is the guy had some deep seated mental issues fueled by severe anger.

By the end of the day, they’ll know what put him over the edge, IMO.

Narcissism - If he jumped in front of a train, in a week he’d be forgotten. By crashing an airplane, he will never be forgotten.

The flight controls appear to be designed to prevent a “plummet”:

according to the news reports, it took 8 minutes to descend 32,000 feet before hitting the mountain. That’s a rate of 4,000ft/min. That’s a very steep decent. What I would like to know is at what speed would the plane break up in midair. The debris field looks too wide for a mountain impact.

Oh yeah, I know what he means.

I’m trying to figure out when a 28 year old professional pilot would have had time to be a gamer.

[s]But then I realize that, yeah, amidst this epidemic of people who play video games committing mass murder every time you turn around, he’s probably right ;/[/s]

If he was gay, the narrative will be that he was bullied or that his parents did not accept his gayness. In other words, this crash will be blamed on us.
