"Well, look, there's nothing like the warm embrace of the mainstream media," Sen. Ted Cruz told Fox New Tuesday night, after various liberal media outlets bashed him as a "scary," "dangerous," "slimy" no-compromiser with a "hardline conservative message." For starters.
The day after announcing his presidential ambitions, Cruz told Megyn Kelly one of his "favorite comments" came from the New York Times, which said that Cruz could not be swayed by the Washington elites, who hate him.
"And I have to admit, my immediate thought was, holy cow, do I have to disclose that to the Federal Election Commission (the agency that tracks political contributions). "I mean, I can't think of a better summary of why I'm running. If you're looking for a candidate embraced by the Washington political elite, I ain't your guy."
Cruz, a first-term senator, said he's running for president because, "I love the Constitution. And I am fighting for freedom." Amid the gridlock in Washington, he said his accomplishments include "stopping bad things from happening," including gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting.
Appearing on a different Fox News program, conservative media personality Glenn Beck suggested that Americans should forget about their party affiliation and vote for the person.
"Look, here is the thing," Beck told Bill O'Reilly. "You want a real matchup? Let's give America a choice. Elizabeth Warren on the left, let's have -- she will step up and she'll actually say what she means and mean what she says. Put Elizabeth Warren and Ted Cruz and let America decide -- a real choice."
"I would love that. That would be great," O'Reilly agreed. "But that's not going to happen."
Beck said Cruz is running "as a principled Republican," and he noted "there are more slings and arrows coming from the Republican Party against Ted Cruz than there (are) outside of the Republican Party."
"That's the problem," Beck added.
Beck noted that even when Republicans win the House, the Senate, and the White House, "then it becomes the Bush administration where it's just as bad on deficits and everything else. They don't have any intention of doing anything."
Beck called Republican leadership "a slower route to the same disastrous legislation."
Cruz vs. Warren
Sounds like a wrestling match at Harvard Law!
Do I detect a hint of Reagan?
He is fearless.
Sleep tight, MSM. We are coming for you...Muhahahahahaha!
>>Do I detect a hint of Reagan?<<

The alarm bells have gone off in D.C., both side of the aisle.
