Haunted by the Past: A Criminal Record Shouldn’t Ruin a Career

Of course they should in many cases.
We do not allow convcted pedophiles to hold jobs that put them in contact with children.
You would not hire a convcted rapist to run the local YWCA
If you have several convicts on record for theft and fraud, I am not hiring you as a bank clerk.

Most non violent first time offenders can have their record expunged if they complete a program offered by the court. It doesn’t happen in all cases but it does in many cases. That’s the one chance people get to learn their lesson and straighten their lives out. Multiple arrests and convictions means a knucklehead who can’t be trusted.
