When did the word "disrespect" become a verb? I realize that the ignoramuses in the hip-hop community use the word that way, but good grief! Surely this group, most of whose members would prefer that English be the single official language of the country, can try just a little bit.
Thank you for your time.

When did "disrespect" become a verb? I don't know, but it was before 1960. I have a Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1960 edition, which lists it as a transitive verb. That dictionary is based on one published in 1934 so I suspect the use of "disrespect" as a verb goes back much further.
