What became of the officers housing half way between the lift bridge and the submarine pen? Also, some residential structures were scattered along the roadway leading to the old coast-guard facility at the southern point, south of the schools command area.

Is Roosevelt Terrace still standing? Haven’t been in the area since the ‘89 earthquake.

I don't know the answer to any of those questions. I was at Travis AFB, and all I knew, was there were Naval repair facilities at Mare Island. I never knew much about it, but even after it closed, I still took my VA disability physical there in 2009. That was the last time I went to Mare Island, though I went to the stores near it more often. As far as I know, all the housing is now civilian housing.

Now, I am not positive, but from what I heard, when Mather closed, all the military housing was to be used for homeless people, but the powers that be, determined that the military housing was not up to homeless standards. It was good enough for Air Force people, but not good enough for the homeless. That kind of grates on my nerves.
