They don’t have money for health insurance? The salary of a US Senator is $174,000 a year. His wive’s salary before she quit her job was significantly greater than that. They didn’t save up any money before she quit? Even if they didn’t, he can’t buy private insurance with his $174K salary?
It sounds like Ted is saying “Yeah sure Obamacare is unconstitutional, and the worst thing that ever happened to the US but, hey, I’m saving money”. If he had the courage of his convictions he would pay for health insurance out of his own pocket, or even go without.
Who said he’s not paying for it out of his own pocket? He never said he is accepting a subsidy. Why do you think he is?

This move by Cruz is way “over your head”, you just don’t “get it” and you certainly don’t understand the brilliance of this move.
This is exactly what his convictions lead him to do and he is taking one for the cause of his convictions. What's good for the gander is good for the goose and he is going to have a great story to tell.
I don't think you understand the words you chose. It takes no courage to buy normal health insurance, while it causes a fine if you go without.
