Poland has seen occupation for most of the past 100 years (and much of the same before that) they know what communism and Nazism are all about and want nothing to do with them. It may be the only other country I would consider living in.

We considered moving there. I loved Poland and it’s people. They were particularly friendly to me as a ‘Yank’.

The Partitions of Poland began in 1772. In 1795, Poland completely disappeared, most of its land having been taken by Russia.

Poland regained independence after WWII, but the Soviet Union invaded and had to be defeated to assure independence.

As you know, Poland again lost its independence when Germany and Russia invaded in 1939.

After the War, under occupation of the Red Army, the Soviets insured Poland would be governed by a puppet government.

Poland only regained true independence after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Poland's fears are genuine. It has been Russian policy for centuries to dominate Poland as a buffer against Germany.
