“American pride” theme in favor of “maybe a national pride theme, so they could represent their individual nationalities. Maybe it should be more inclusive and it should be national pride.”

WTH does that mean?

Silver lining is how the kids are smarter than the adults here, including the “diverse” ones. Watch the local TV vids.

It is more important to cater to sexual deviants and potential child molesters that have a higher incidence of committing this act than normal people. If you are butt hurt about this its intended; that’s what they do...

people of other nationalities might feel excluded

Then by all means, they are free to return to whatever nation they prefer, and celebrate there. If, however, they decide that they are indeed Americans, then they should be proud of their new home nation.

What’s the problem? If I were in France and the locals wanted to have a French Pride event,I sure wouldn’t be offended-it’s their country.
This is America, foreigners need to understand that fact.

Yeah, it sounds like Carol Pilarski, who turns out to be an ASSISTANT Superintendent, completely overstepped her boundaries and ticked off the students, the principal and the actual Superintendent.

American pride does not mean looking down at others - it means aspiring to be a productive member of this wonderful country - and to export the freedoms that the country was founded on.

Of course, we’ll have to resurrect those freedoms here first...

'concerns that people of other nationalities might feel excluded'

So-o-o-o, Scots come in Kilts, Germans in lieder Ho-sen/Dirndls, Native Americans in Tribal Leather, and so on...

It means that person wants the theme to be pride in any country any particular student wants, presumably the most common alternative to the US would be Mexico. She’s a divider, not a uniter.

They are educators more interested in political correctness and minimizing America in American, than in teaching.

This should not be complicated. If you love us, you’re one of us. If you don’t, don’t come.

These cowardly school administrators are continually making decisions in a trial balloon manner and then retreating when the balloon crashes. Just because they retreated doesn’t mean they believed their decisions were wrong. Tactical retreat means you live to fight another day. And they will.

" . . . after a debate over concerns that people of other nationalities might feel excluded . . . "

I wonder what they mean by "other nationalities"? Foreign exchange students? Illegal aliens? Students who identify more as members of their historical "ethnic" community than as citizens of the United States?

In any case, I don't think I would be offended if I were a foreign exchange student in Italy and they were celebrating Italy Day. I'd think, "Hey, they're Italians, the purpose of this celebration isn't to offend me."

It seems you can’t go anywhere in this country anymore without finding Leftists who have crawled into the woodwork of every social institution.
