More likely than not, the New Republic scribbler simply transcribed a press release from one of Soros’ PR companies. Soros has paid for dozens of PR companies across the US - around the globe, actually - to spew out left wing talking points and attacks against conservatives. The screeds are sent to selected propagandists and written up as news stories and opinion pieces in the MSM.

You can easily see the Soros effect by noting how many so-called journalists use the same story-line, phrases and words in their “news” articles.

Rather striking how much of the article _agrees_ (unwittingly) with Cruz.

Taxes? Derided as missing the problem of complexity in taxes, yet author agrees progressive taxation could/should be just as simple. Derided as “political nightmare for non-rich”, yet author overlooks the political nightmare taxation is now.

Abolish IRS & Obamacare? Derided as not having a “what next” plan, yet author conveniently overlooks the plan he does have, and ignores that simplification/repeal means whatever does require doing would be so simple as trivial (my favored IRS alternative: states & territories each write 1 big check, with 2 guys working 4 days a year to figure out what’s owed (fed budget / #of jurisdictions) and cash the checks).

Debt ceiling? Derided as “hostage-taking”, yet author agrees “Breaching the debt ceiling would be disastrous.” Congress keeps breaching the debt ceiling, just raising it. Should it “really breach”, well, it’s going to and it’s going to be disastrous when it happens so maybe we’d best take it seriously.

Un-presidential? Derided as “ridiculous and infuriating”, author prior agreed “Breaching the debt ceiling would be disastrous” so yeah, something really serious & shocking has to happen or there WILL be a real & final breach.

Calculating? Derided as “every move preparing for 2016”, author’s point applies moreso to Hillary!’s modus operandi for 16+ years (the only standing candidate on the Left).

Benefitting Democrats? Hillary is cratering, Obama is done, no other Leftist is viable. Republican party is about to lose the Right base (having completely ignored the 2014 sweep). Author agrees Cruz does appeal to the right-wing, which is severely demoralized and in dire need of an energizing candidate.

First they criticize you, then they attack you with lies and smears, then they throw all manner of evil accusations against you and then you win.

Agree.

The old deceive, distort, deflect counterattack when you don’t want to have a straight up discussion about something.

This author wants the Left to choose our candidate.

Well, sure. Like they kept saying in the movie about their lying reporter "It's the New Republic."

Here's what they came up with today: The Fascinating, Faulty Logic Behind Ted Cruz's Naked Appeal to White America

Cruz unveils ObamaCare alternative

Basically all that does, in addition to repealing Obamacare, is allow the sale of insurance across state lines. I hope there's more to his plan than that.

...or respectable cuts in government spending.

Like that's going to happen.

And, why in hell would the middle and poor classes need a tax increase? The flat tax INCLUDES ELIMINATION OF ALL DEDUCTIONS.

Under the current tax laws an average family earning an average income pays no income tax after all deductions and credits are factored in. Remove the deductions and the credits and all those people will pay taxes. That's what's called a tax increase. And it'd be a pretty hard sell to about 45% to 47% of the country.

Well, if that family does not pay taxes now just keep
them on the no income tax pay list and dispense with the
kabuki theater filing. Never had any little deductions
myself. Always been nailed to the max w/tax.

“But other than his oratorical skills, Cruz is entirely unsuited to be president. Luckily for America, his candidacy is likely doomed to fizzle. Cruz...”

Wow, he has them panicking!

“Cruz/Walker or Walker/Cruz. Period. End of story.”

I won’t vote for any pro-amnesty candidate. I escaped a state ruined by illegals and can’t vote for a candidate that is for the destruction of this country by giving it away to people that won’t assimilate, steal jobs and resources meant for citizens. I will only vote for candidates that respect our laws.

Yet above all, one particular position should disqualify Cruz—or anyone else who holds it—from the presidency: using the debt ceiling as a hostage device. Breaching the debt ceiling would be disastrous. It’s hard to forecast exactly what would happen, but we can somewhat forecast day one after default. The government would have to prioritize its payments. Do you withhold food stamps from low-income Americans? Delay Social Security checks? Maybe we should stop payments on infrastructure projects. Those missed payments would harm millions of Americans and cause mass disruptions around the country as cash flow problems cause companies to become insolvent. Over the long term, it would permanently raise our borrowing costs, making our interest payments more expensive. In short, it would be self-inflicted economic Armageddon. Cruz considers his willingness to risk that catastrophe a selling point, touting his role in opposing the debt ceiling hikes on his website.

I have been forced to do this since I I lost so much money

“A Harvard Law graduate whom professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz once described as “off-the-chart brilliant,” Cruz’s intelligence should never be underestimated.”

Brilliant, yet able to articulate complex problems in an understandable way without being condescending, whether directed at Supreme Court justices or voters. That is a very rare trait.

So if we cancelled food stamps and other welfare schemes we’d soon be out of debt? What are we waiting for?!
