Taylor Swift has bought the web domain names TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult. The addresses are part of a public sale by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The web domain names go on sale to the public on 1 June but some stars and companies are being given the opportunity to buy them ahead of then.

Just the mere fact that we have a .porn domain convinces me we’re all about to be turned into pillars of salt.

I would prefer that it all get moved to domains with an obvious reference so that people aren't misled into clicking on things they wouldn't otherwise click on.

My thoughts exactly.

They did this before with .xxx, nobody bothered to actually use it, they bought the registrations but .com remained their primary navigation point. Same thing will happen with the new ones.

Defensive registration, it's called. GoDaddy made bank selling new domain names to companies who didn't want their brand ending up in a .xxx address. Article from 2011. I recall back in the old days people bought websites and resold them to the businesses who found they wanted those addresses with their brand name on it.

After Madonna overage pranks, and Lady GaGa shock, T Swift is indeed refreshing. She is a role model for being sexy without being slutty. Plus some of her music is good.

I think she should put a graphic on these sites about Kanye West, shaming him.

Yes but porn star, maybe she is thinking of being, and trying to save her name, maybe she is not. The force, it tells me so.

A girl with smart management.

It's a pointless endeavor since there are an infinite number of names someone could come up with for a porn site.

The best/only way to not have your porn go online is to not create it in the first place, or at least keep a firm grip on it to insure it doesn't get out.

I think the problem would be more like someone that resembles her doing the porn ... not the star herself ...

But your advice is good.

The scripture says;

Refrain from all appearance of evil ..

I taught that to my children as soon as they could understan English ... and my girls were taught "shame, shame" for anything that peeked out or got exposed ... they're now both married with children, hot to their husbands and teaching THEIR girls, "shame, shame"

I'll die in peace on THAT level anyway

The following excerpt from the Wikipedia article on ICANN says that for a price you can get any global top-level domain name (gTLD) you want.

Begin excerpt:

On June 20, 2011, the ICANN board voted to end most restrictions on the names of generic top-level domains (gTLD).[37][38][39] Companies and organizations became able to choose essentially arbitrary top level Internet domain names. The use of non-Latin characters (such as Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc.) will also be allowed in gTLDs. ICANN began accepting applications for new gTLDS on January 12, 2012.[37] The initial price to apply for a new gTLD is $185,000.[40] The renewal or the annual fee of the domain will further be $25,000.[41][42] It is anticipated that many corporations will apply for gTLDs based on their brands. ICANN expects the new rules to significantly change the face of the Internet. Peter Thrush, chairman of ICANN’s board of directors stated after the vote: “Today’s decision will usher in a new Internet age. We have provided a platform for the next generation of creativity and inspiration. Unless there is a good reason to restrain it, innovation should be allowed to run free.”[43] Some would argue that the innovative freedom Peter Thrush refers to starts at $185,000, and thus is not accessible to everyone.[44]

GradJediMasterYoda can only think at one level.

GradJediMasterYoda saw porn and thought of only one thing.

Never could step it up to the next level and realize she would buy it to keep others from using it.

Smart one he is not.

The porno industry is sleaze. Any pretty girl in the public eye will now have their names with the .porn account with photoshopped, who knows what.

Hillary, DiFi, Babs need not worry.
