Sean Penn sarcastically thanked former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday night for inventing the Islamic State terror group that is wreaking havoc across the Middle East.
You mentioned Dick Cheney, this kind of, you know, embittered bacteria of humanity, the actor told TBS talk show host Conan O'Brien. Its always a surprise to me to remember that, through bionic technology and so on, this guys still here.
These are the guys he and President Bush and some others who invented Daesh, or ISIS, Mr. Penn said, using the Arabic name and the acronym commonly used for the terror group.

I thought Sean Penn was going to stay in Haiti the rest of his life, fixing it up.

Penn needs a swift kick in the ass!
I’ve stopped asking “How stupid can someone be?” because so many of them take it as a challenge. (Seen on FR today. Sorry, I don’t recall who posted it.)
I’ve seen this talking point (Bush created ISIS) a few times the past several months. It’s nonsense, of course. As another FReeper pointed out, it was Obama’s failure to get a status of forces of agreement with Iraq that gave ISIS the opening.
And, not to put too fine a point on things, but if the invasion of Iraq created ISIS, then Penn is effectively arguing that it would have been better to leave Saddam Hussein (i.e. he who was toppled by the invasion) in power. The same tyrant who kept his inner core fat and happy while “peaceful sanctions” contributed to the deaths of over 1 million of his people.
Not real eager to get on board that bus there, sparky.
Put down the crack pipe, Sean.
It was your guy Obama who pulled our troops out of Iraq. If we had stationed forces in Iraq ISIS would not have been there now.
Meanwhile, 70 years after the end of World War II, we still have members of our military in the former Axis powers of Japan, Germany, and Italy.
Sean Penn - PTUI !!!!
“These are the guys he and President Bush and some others who invented Daesh, or ISIS”
I remember Truman Capote telling Johnny Carson decades ago that most actors aren’t very bright, because if they had any analytical intelligence they they wouldn’t be able to recite their stupid lines so convincingly.
Anyone can watch Pean speak for two minutes or less and see he’s retarded.
Put down the crack pipe, Sean.
....and the bong!
lololol
While I understand your sentiment, there are some legitimate things that he does deserve blame for:
If Bush invented ISIS then Obama promoted them
from JV to varsity.
Sean has little education and overcompensates trying to appear intelligent.
Sean started his career on his family coattails. If not for him being the son of a director and an actress, it’s a safe bet he wouldn’t have been given the opportunities.
He got an easy ride to stardom and now we have to listen to this know-it-all. When it comes to international affairs, Sean would be way down the list of people I would consult.
As was ousting Saddam Hussein. Let's be honest across the political spectrum. GWB was wrong getting involved in Iraq. Obama was wrong to continue with regime change initiatives when he took office.
Most of Obama's really bad moves...Obamacare, regime change, more interference in education, the invasion of the US, more federal insurance programs, out of control debt, really bad policies to prop up the economy....started with GWB.
Penn represents the liberal 80% of Hollywood. How and Why did we allow that percentage? Do we have any soul searching to do about why conservatism is fast becoming an endangered minority? C’mon people, what the sam hell are we doing wrong??!! Are we losing the media war because we’re not making any mistakes?
Doesn’t this idiot realize he is Jewish. I don’t think he wants to meet with ISIS but on the other hand perhaps it would slap reality into him.
Hey moron!
That dubious distinction goes to Jimmy Carter, for creating the terrorist state of Iran.
Some things are Bush's fault.
