The Obama administration showed no signs of mending fences with Benyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, last night as preparations began in Jerusalem for talks to form of a new coalition government. Despite calls by Reuven Rivlin, Israels president, to begin a healing process following last weeks bitterly divisive election, Mr Obama has refused to allow Mr Netanyahu to take back comments apparently ruling out a Palestinian state while he was in power.
"We take him at his word when he said that it wouldn't happen during his prime ministership, Mr Obama said in an interview, reiterating that his administration would now evaluate what other options are available.
Mr Obamas remarks reflect deep anger in the administration at Mr Netanyahu apparently ruling out a two-state solution for the Middle East and using racially charged warnings that Israeli Arabs were voting in droves to scare up votes on the Israeli Right.
We indicated that that kind of rhetoric was contrary to what is the best of Israel's traditions, Mr Obama told The Huffington Post, arguing that Mr Netanyahus comments had undermined the fabric of Israeli democracy.
Although Israel was founded based on the historic Jewish homeland and the need to have a Jewish homeland, Israeli democracy has been premised on everybody in the country being treated equally and fairly, Mr Obama said.

He has never grown emotionally from the time he was 6 years old.
The Fakestinians don’t need a nation state. They need an off course Iranian nuke.
Obama & Co understand that Bibi was saying that the reason the two state solution would not work is because the other side will never agree to it.
Nentanyahu has, essentially, declared war on the Palestinian people, not to mention 20% of Israels own population, by an all but public endorsement of apartheid and the Palestinian diaspora.
Will the U.S. stand by this nonsense, paying for every bullet the Israelis use? This hardly serves our interest.
Netanyahu and his cronies are one of the best recruitment tools used by terrorist in the Middle East. His reelection just gave them their booster shot.
It's time the world did the right thing by the Palestinians, the humane thing, and started treating the occupier like a pariah, and even sanctioning it, just like they do to other rogue states.
That’s interesting... he asserts he is taking Netanyahu at his word, yet continually refuses to take the Iranians at their word when they say they want to destroy Israel and the US. And no one takes the Palestinian leadership at their word either, when they rant against the Jews and the Americans....
With all this discussion of Netanyahu and his position on a two state solution you may want to ponder whether the Palis have any interest in a similar project. Based on their previous responses over the years I would say no. Presently with hezbollah to the north and hamas to the south with fatah having no leverage no group offers anything other than their version of a one state solution. It is obvious that Netanyahu’s position only reflects the present reality.
The Palestinian People have been at war with Israel since 1948.
By occupier, you mean...Israel?
What are you doing on this site?
How do you really feel about him Jimbo? Then again, why trouble your Mods with such conflict, ehehehehe.
LOL ... it sounds like you’ve joined Obama in your rhetoric against Netanyahu and have abandoned any support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu!
Being on OBAMA’S side on this issue is not a good move!
A by-product of Israeli aggression.
Which came first? The chicken, or the egg?
I do not support Obama. I also do not support Netanyahu.
What part of this is not clear to you?
Just like Obama said “If you like your plan, you keep your plan”, “Not a SINGLE dime of your taxes will increase”, and “I will cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term”, Americans are to take the man child at his word.
Right?
I think that's a "cognitive dissonance" or "disgruntled in extremis"

He’s right- there won’t be... not because of him but because
of the nature of the Palestinian leadership... the palestinians [and more importantly, Iran & Syria & Russia] will never agree to anything. Doesn’t matter if Israel supports one state, two state or anything else- there is no logical option available that the Palestinians will accept, none, nada, zilch.
The only reason “palestinians” were created and their sole reason for existing still, is to serve as a proxy for nation states that need plausible deniability to avoid retaliation whenever they want to attack Israel or counter US foreign policy actions.
You’re taking the position of the Liberals on this issue, in which they fight against Israel on another front, while the Islamic Terrorists fight against Israel on their front.
You should be supporting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in that he wants a TWO-STATE SOLUTION in which the two states can live in peace with one another. You shouldn’t be taking the side of those who want to force upon Israel something that is not accomplished through negotiations with Israel, but is accomplished by means of force upon Israel, without any “responsibility” by the Palestinian Authority!
You’re taking the wrong side of the issue on this one!
Here’s what Netanyahu wants to accomplish, with a TWO-STATE SOLUTION, per his Bar-Ilan speech from 2009!

Ummm ... he’s supporting the Palestinians and is against Netanyahu!
No, the governments that support the Palestinians are saying that. They can step up to the plate at any time and take in the Palestinians but they won’t do so because the Palestinians are tools.
