When Common Core was launched in 2009, it was promised: These standards will be research and evidence-based, internationally benchmarked, aligned with college and work expectations and include rigorous content and skills.
Is Common Core internationally benchmarked? Does Common Core actually promote practices that are similar to those of high achieving countries that are likely to result in improved achievement of American students? Are the Common Core standards aligned with college expectations?

I understand lots of teachers, my wife being a retired one, think it’s awful, but they’re generally curiously quiet as it comes time to speak up. Speaking up against academia seems to be universally known as counter-productive to one’s job security and retirement health.

It is internationaly bound by Islam.
I’m shocked. I thought it was WUNNERFUL!!!!......./s

My wife who is still teaching hates it, and she isn’t shy about voicing her opinion. My son who is teaching is one of the state reps for Common Core. They wanted him to use his classroom as an example for how math should be taught throughout the state, but grad school got in the way. There haven’t been any serious arguments about it in the house, so I take a passive approach against it. Mostly I keep him supplied with horror stories about it. Eventually his conservative principles will kick in, and do their job.
Learning information by rote, without the structure of ‘why’, is never high quality.
It becomes a regurgitation of meaningless things.
No inferences.
No critical thinking.
Ideology education is this bull crap where they are not brainwashing children with truth, just drowning truth with self esteem, narcissism and ideological imaginative mindset.
It does not precisely tailor to a particular form of fascism, but certainly makes embryos ready to march after future Obamas. It is satanism behind “nice”.
This a rhetorical, and probably, stupid question.
Back in the day when we all walked thru 5 feet of snow, up hill, to school...what in the heck was wrong with the schools teaching education? In a way that was understandable? Actually, your self esteem wasn’t an issue. Passing or failing was. Some kids did better. Some did worse.
From what I can tell Common Core was intended to be some sort of international “competition”. That makes no sense. Some countries need different kinds of education.
There are more kids TODAY that can’t read well, spell, write or do math than in those halcyon days.
Bottom line...I don’t get Common Core...except it is some kind of control thing.
Gov education is reprograming our youth
