Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks, wants his employees to talk to the customers about race relations in America, which makes as much sense, I suppose, as a bank instructing its tellers to inquire after your faith. In other words, Schultz and his people have gotten so full of themselves that they actually believe a barista can engage a customer in a meaningful conversation about race, even though the customer might want only a latte and not chatter. Or else they believe that coffee, by virtue of its stimulants, is an elixir that can close the great divide, if there even is one. The program seems to have blown up on Schultz's corporation. People have taken to social media to point out that the program, called "Race Together," is merely opportunistic and inappropriate for a coffee chain. I kept waiting to read or to hear of the real reason this is so ludicrous. In fact, never has the left, as it might be represented by Schultz in this case, looked so transparently hypocritical. Where are the Starbucks in the neighborhoods populated by the people that Schultz pretends to be concerned about to the point of kick-starting yet another national conversation?

Probably not that many if Starbucks are not in the hoods.
BOL!
My wife and I are not the friendliest people on earth before we have our first cup of coffee.
The last thing I would want any morning before I have my first dose of caffeine is some minimum wage idiot with an instant unemployment degree asking me about race before I have my first coffee.
SBUX knows damn good and well their yuppie emporiums would be quickly ghettoized by feral bands of drug-dealer, gang-banger types if located in poor black neighborhoods, quickly driving out any decent citizens foolish enough to grossly overpay for grossly poor quality yuppie coffee.
They have BET
Thanks.
One out 19 top officers are black or .95%.
Time for Al Sharpton to pay a visit to Schultz.
Schultz would like to talk to me about race; I’d like to talk to him about the money he collected in his scheme to “help obama create jobs,” consisting of jars in all the stores to collect $5 donations from customers for that alleged purpose. One day, the jars are in the stores, next day they’re not. No results posted, no audit.
How about it, Howie?
Cheaper yet if you empty the pod and refill it with the coffee of your choice, again and again. All that’s required is a sharp knife (and a steady hand).
Just bring some White Out with you
I know what you mean. I tried a cheap brand of coffee and I like it as well as any. I get a 1 lb 7 oz can for $5.99. I've stayed with it since. I do decaf.
How many are gay? I’d say a few.
Fuzzy math. 5.3% are black.
I went into a Starbucks this morning in the very upscale town of Ridgefield, CT hoping to get into a nice lecture...or 'discussion' on my white privilege but the barista simply took my order and moved me on down the line. I then had my coffee drink slid across the counter with nary a comment except "have a nice day."
The average Starbucks barista (and "expert" on race) earns less than $10/hr.
race to get her
Thanks.
What I get for using my pc calculator and hitting the wrong key.
Yeah but in Seattle it will soon be $15/hr.
