The running joke in my office with EVERY railroad-related incident lately is "Positive Train Control would have prevented this! It's for the CHILDREN!"

Seriously, after the woman up in Valhalla, NY stopped her car on the Metro-North tracks and killed 6, some politician said PTC would have prevented it:

Rep. Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y., said Tuesday's accident underscores the need for positive train control, a technology that uses WiFi and GPS to monitor trains' exact position and automatically applies the brakes to prevent collisions or lessen their severity. While not specifically designed to address grade-crossing accidents, the technology can be expanded for such purposes, he said.

PTC is just your average everyday DemocRAT swindle for BILLIONS of Dollars to misapply to a problem of people NOT DOING THEIR JOBS, or simply "needing killing".

Hi Rodamala,

I work near where that incident happened. I heard she was texting.

However, the politicians see this as an opportunity to make a name for themselves. What caused this accident and others like it. STUPIDITY. And you cant always stop stupid. Really is shame those people died and I am sure the woman who stopped on the tracks did not mean harm but she did a very stupid thing.

Those things come down over the tracks you are Sh_____ a brick you are not talking off your seatbelt, getting out of the car.....!!

Its the same thing with guns. You cant stop crazy. Especially when you advertise you are gun free.

Chuck the F___ Shumer then puts out a statement they need an investigation on this. How much does that cost the taxpayer.....they checked the mechanisms and they are working perfectly.
