Handicapped Parking is frequently abused. A colleague drove her car with her disabled husband’s tab dangling from her mirror and parked at the WH reserved spot. I was mortified.

Some public parking garages have ‘free’ handicapped spaces while everyone else has to pay big bucks to park. All those parking are at work.

Don’t understand why parking spaces in malls- which are separated by a few feet are reserved - users still have to navigate to the stores etc.,

There should be some allowances for persons who are physically impaired, if only temporarily, with a window sticker from a physician.

They do have temporary tags to hang from the windshield where I live. I had my doctor fill it out and I mailed it in about a week ago. I asked for a 90 day and she filled it in as six months instead. I had two back surgeries in less than a two week period thanks to a staph infection. I’m walking better now, but I can’t get very far, I actually requested it so my daughter or wife could park closer to the hospital when they take me to appointments.

I suspect I’ll probably be mostly healed or at least look mostly ok by the time I get the placard. That won’t change the fact that I’m still considered disabled for awhile. Looking healthy walking 20 feet isn’t anything like looking healthy walking 200 feet. Last time I tried walking with a walker to the office door I ended up having a wheelchair brought out to me because the nurse thought I was going to fall down. I froze up because I had no energy and the pain was overwhelming.

My main point is that it’s not always an obvious injury. Nobody would probably know what was wrong with me unless I had my shirt off to see all the scars from surgery. Hard to believe just a month ago they told me I might die or be paralyzed because of the infection. Scary words you don’t ever want to hear from a doctor.
