Netanyahu: Israel May Accept Some Iran Centrifuges

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu suggested Thursday his country might accept Iran having a small number of centrifuges, but insisted world powers could strike a better nuclear deal with Tehran than one now under negotiation.

"I think you can get a better deal. The one I would have is to reduce Iran's nuclear capabilities so you increase the breakout time," the Israeli leader told NBC television.

"I mean, if I had a vote on that negotiating team, I would say zero centrifuges," he said, when asked about reports that the Islamic Republic might be left with about 6,000 centrifuges.

The highly sophisticated machines spin uranium gas at supersonic speeds to make it suitable for power generation as well as for use at high purities for an atomic bomb.

Iran currently has about 19,000 centrifuges, of which just over 10,000 are operational, and Netanyahu has repeatedly called for Iran's entire nuclear capability to be dismantled.

Pressed by NBC on whether he would accept some centrifuges, Netanyahu replied: "I would say that a smaller number would be something that Israel and its Arab neighbors wouldn't love, but could live with."

"The most important thing is that the lifting of restrictions on Iran's nuclear program would depend on Iran's change of behavior. That it would stop supporting terrorism, stop its aggression against just about every country in the region, and stop calling and threatening the annihilation of Israel."

Maybe part of the deal could be Iran GIVING Israel
10,000 of it’s centrifuges, that would be fair...
the ones that work can go to Israel.

“Such a deal I have for you!”

I think this is about making Obama and his lacky MSM look dumb and dumber.
Remember, it's all about the intent not the action, and just saying something
like this is using the Obama/Dem game against them. All their (D) hype is being
shoved up their collective Tuches.

I have a better idea.
If an oil rich nation like Iran seriously want nuclear power as opposed to nuclear weapons, then let Israel take possession of ALL the centrifuges.
Israel can then refine the uranium to perfection for peaceful use but not for weapons.

Why would a country swimming in oil need any nuclear centrifuges?

Answer, they want them to build a nuke. Duh. Why are we discussing this with them, our position should be that Iran can't have centrifuges because they would use them to build a nuke. Period. We will be happy to allow them all the oil drilling equipment and upgrades they need. At retail.

Why does Obama want Iran to have nuclear power, but doesn’t want the US to have the same?

Why exactly is that?

Obama is also letting our nuclear warheads age without updating so they become less reliable.

That’s one thing about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ... he’s a pragmatic politician. I support Netanyahu 100% in what his policies are and what he does. He knows how to pick his fights.

I would accept some centrifuges.

3 broken ones...

Iran should be reduced to ashes before it be allowed to have the bomb.

Iran having the bomb will end the world as we know it.

If I’m not mistaken, Iran already has missiles that can reach Europe or very close to it.

“....the lifting of restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program would depend on Iran’s change of behavior.”

.
Is there anyone who can guess what Iran’s behavior will be next year?

And in three years? And what about in five years?

Perhaps all of Iran will convert from the ROP and then we’ll have nothing to worry about. It is all reminiscent of the Global Warming argument.

Just delaying Iran having the bomb IS NOT good enough.

It should NEVER get the bomb.

Well, I would agree that they should not have the bomb, but the issue that Netanyahu is dealing with here is “how to do it” ... and thus, that’s where “pragmatic Netanyahu” comes out ...

In the quest for just about anything, pragmatism is short-hand for putting it off until it doesn’t get done.

I like Bibi a lot, but the man isn’t perfect. He’s made some mistakes in the past, and I don’t want to see him unwittingly make some that will cost all of us dearly.

BiBi is an astute strategist, whatever it is he is saying and or doing is going to result in what is best for Israel, and I would guess will make obama come out smelling like a rat that he is.

By observation I notice when BiBi looks like he is losing he is winning again.

Merriam-Webster ... pragmatism ...

... a reasonable and logical way of doing things or of thinking about problems that is based on dealing with specific situations instead of on ideas and theories.

— — —

That is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ... :-) ... and that is a REAL-WORLD WAY of dealing with things, especially when dealing with a country with millions of people in it.

You realize of course that this is Boehner's modus operandi. Right?

I would urge Bibi to be very careful about justifying to himself that certain actions are the best that can be hoped for.

This can lead to lowering the bar so that the other side never has to raise theirs.

Pragmatism can also lead to justified procrastination, so that in the end nothing is one.

That's great if the other side's agenda doesn't get advanced.

It's not so great if your own doesn't.

I would add, one of the strongest driving forces behind the amnesty not an amnesty movement in the United States, is pragmatism.
