Starting in the fall of 2015, the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) will offer a LGBTQ minor and gender-inclusive housing options for students.
This minor will prepare students for life, Gesa Zinn, head of the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department, told Campus Reform. The job the LGBTQ minor prepares students for is to understand and embrace all members of an increasingly diverse society.
To complete the minor, students will have to take classes such as An Introduction to LGBTQ Studies, Queer Theory, Queer Cinema in International Perspective, History of the Homosexual Rights Movement 1895 Present, and Queer Media.
Zinn said the purpose of the minor is to reach out to students who are not always included, and a 'signaling' to those who think lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer and intersex identities do not exist, truly do and should be recognized.
The minor will teach students about the history, diversity, perspectives and sexual identity formations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex communities, Zinn said.

You Freepers need to prepare for life ... by taking out a student loan and attending our taxpayer supported institution ... so that you can learn about sexual identity formation ... by taking our course in Queer Theory ... and by moving into our gender-inclusive housing ... where you can do your homework with other like-minded students every night.
Is there any wonder why college “graduates” are increasingly useless in the real world? What the HELL does one do with a minor in LGBTQCIENASHGF:AHTGUW?
And let me say something about this. We've ALWAYS been a diverse society. This is their way of saying, "We're here, we're queer, get used to it!"
This minor will prepare students for life,
Yea, that will really open doors.
Combine that with a major in women studies or peace studies and also “earn” a teaching certificate and then go teach in the public schools, K-12.
There are people paid to think this stuff up. They are paid with tax money. When I asked our state rep about the new “gender inclusive” housing policy at Georgia State in downtown Atlanta, he said the university was claiming no tax money was involved, but that’s a lie—as is just about everything coming out of academia these days.
how trendy
Are they building bathhouses on campus now?
Life as a barista.
Will the diplomas say “Queer Studies”?
And they wonder why rape has become such a problem in campus, as they build special housing units for perverts and sexual deviants.
Perhsps they should now be called institutes of lower learning.
If I was a college student today, I'd want them to have special housing away from other dorms and infestation of other students. Maybe bars on windows should also be considered...
