After staying mum on Israeli issues in the run-up to the election, the White House on Wednesday broke its silence -- answering Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's victory with fresh criticism and making clear that a new rift has opened between U.S. and Israeli leaders, this time over Palestinian statehood.
In its first public response to Netanyahu's election triumph, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said President Obama still believes in a two-state solution. This was after Netanyahu, shortly before the vote, reversed his stance and stated he would not allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Earnest acknowledged Wednesday that the U.S. would have to "re-evaluate" its position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in light of those comments. But he stressed that Obama believes a two-state solution is best. And State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki clarified that the administration "absolutely" will continue to push for this.
Further, Earnest chided Netanyahu's Likud Party on Wednesday, saying the White House was "deeply concerned" about divisive language emanating from Likud. He said the party had sought to marginalize Israel's minority Arabs, an apparent reference to social media posts the Likud distributed that warned Israelis about the danger of high turnout by Arab voters.
"These are views the administration intends to convey directly to the Israelis," Earnest said.
The comments suggest there is likely to be no thaw in the chilly relationship between Netanyahu's administration and the White House.

the crazy thing is that I really think Israel would go for a two state solution if they thought it would lead to a lasting piece but the Arab population has proven that they would only use the creation of a Palestinian state as a means to destroy and cause a genocide of Israel. my personnel feeling is that Israel should state for the now on that Israeli will keep all land taken in warfare now and in the future. Israel will no longer negotiate with any government or group that threatens it existence.
Obama tried to take out Netanyahu and failed.

Before the election, Obama had little time left to establish the caliphate. With Bibi’s reelection, the time ran out.
A rift only opened up worse by the Kenyan, because he is a immature, sore LOSER. Despite Donald Young’s “special friend” (too soon?) trying to take him down, despite all the backstabbing, Netanyahu will still support the resident of the White House.
It is a great victory but OTOH I can see Obasteedo doubling-down on dastardly deeds due to the loss here.

No one wants to even give a statement that Israel has the right to exist and has their destruction in the Palestinian charter, but it is Israel that should make room for a terrorist state?
That may be true in that many people don’t have a position one way or another. Those of us who support Israel realize that our on survival is at stake and is directly tied to theirs.
We truly have too much ignorance in this country and there is no excuse for it.
Israelis and Americans mostly like each other’s nations. Obama can’t change that.
But, if Obama launches a bash-Israel campaign here, it’ll backfire badly.
