Congresss two top tax chairmen warned President Obama on Wednesday not to claim unilateral executive powers to raise taxes on his own, saying it violates the Constitution and ruins chances for a lasting deal.
Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said they were troubled by White Houses announcement earlier this month that Mr. Obama is very interested in exploring what options he has to raise taxes without going through Congress.
This would be a mistake, both constitutionally and politically, the two lawmakers said, adding that if the president pressed ahead, it would make it much tougher for him to reach a deal with Congress on simplifying the tax code and permanently eliminating tax breaks.

If he does, these senators will send him an angry letter.
It never stops with that guy.
Yeah, what are they going to do? Try to impeach him. pffft
Or what?
In other words: We’re not against the tax hikes; but if you do it by fiat, “... it violates the Constitution and ruins chances for a lasting deal.”
So, let us do the tax hikes and then they’ll last.
Did I get that right??
“it would make it much tougher for him to reach a deal with Congress on simplifying the tax code and permanently eliminating tax breaks.”
Wow, are they going to take their marbles and go home? He should be impeached and run out of town on a rail if he does any such thing but no our fearful leaders issue a threat he will not get what he wants on some legislation, big woop.
Judging by what he thinks he can get away with now, I shudder to think what he would have done if he had a democratic majority aiding and abetting him over the past 6 years.
Political Correctness is murdering us with funding for “charity” organizations in violation of church and state. So what is another politically correct dictat going to be unusual?
Remember, we are keeping Loretta Lynch on the back of the bus.
"Or what" is right!
And we thought Obungo had problems with "Red Lines..."
Because McConnell and Boehner will huff and puff and blow him down? OOOOh, he’s shaking, I’m sure.
Like that's going to stop him. Obama doesn't care about the Constitutionality and there isn't a chance of working a lasting deal with him to begin with.
Or they will publicly attack each other, then caucus with Democrats to approve it, and fully fund it. I am still trying to visualize that greater evil I was supposed to vote against last year.
That is all the GOP knows how to do, warn, talk — but no action when it comes down to it — and Obama knows it. They are pitiful.
I think this translates into ordinary English as: Do whatever you want to, but we have to make empty statements to cover our butts - just disregard them as always.
Or....the GOP will do....what, exactly?
Fume? Pout? Wait for THREE days instead of TWO to bend over and grab their ankles?
They need to get men like Allen West, Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell and women like Star Parker and Mia Love to be out there daily—in the black community and liberal enclaves—explaining how and why Obama is a danger to everyone.
Every day.
Relentless—just like Nasty Pelozi and Hairy Reed were to George W. Bush.
All the time.
Never stop.
Constant.
When these GOP members moan and get sympathetic coverage in the Washington Times, they’re preaching to the choir.
Did I mention the GOP needs to be doing this every day? 24/7?
They might even send a letter to the editor!
