Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk thinks every car on the road today — and many more in the future — will eventually be outlawed.

The reason? They require humans to drive.

“In the distant future, [legislators] may outlaw driven cars because they’re too dangerous,” Musk told NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang at company’s annual developers conference Tuesday. ”You can’t have a person driving a two-ton death machine.”

Soon you will need an EPA permit to own an internal combustion engine.

This clown has never heard of an EMP.

Suddenly all those cars that don’t have humans driving them will stop working altogether or start acting uncontrollably.

"“In the distant future, [legislators] may outlaw driven cars because they’re too dangerous,”"

How about we outlaw legislators and being a p***y instead?

They're more of a threat to the general public than my 2 ton death machine.

Yep, if Musk and his fellow Marxists have their way. Musk, the same guy who has taken in billions of taxpayer money and subsidies all to produce... a few hundred (flaming) cars.

What a frickin moron. Would you rather have a computer try your case for you? Fly your plane for you? Cut you open?

Humans are as good as it gets. No robot is better. More expendable yes, not superior.

Not to mention the ability to hack the cars, causing problems in the process.

I have to wonder if the model is going to be *mostly* automated driving but with a human there as backup. How are you going to account for that 0.00000000001% case that the software either doesn’t recognize or has a software defect that causes it to do the wrong thing? Also what about any sort of off road driving?

There are already so many regulations (like ridiculously low speed limits) that it already is effectively illegal to drive on the roads. It's just that the cops don't try to stop everybody -- just enough to meet quota.

He will have to change the title from “I can’t drive 55” to “I can’t drive”.
