Where do you see an actual challenge? Just toothless yapping to indulge domestic hawks.

“annexation of the peninsula was a violation of international law that “called the peaceful order in Europe into question.”

How about in 1999 when Germany bombed the hell out of Serbia for 3 months, forcibly stripping their sovereign territory to give to rebel separatists?

Isn’t this the norm of international law that Germany has set for others?

Does this mean Germany will be working towards returning Kosovo to Serbia?

Lol,, they cannot be serious. They gonna siege Sevastopol again, where they fought Russians? Where the Crimean war attackers fought against,,,Russians? Where in the cold war the Russians had their biggest navy base?

Merkel really thinks they are going to be able to give that the Kiev so it can become a NATO base?

And as an aside, what is the German interest here?

Germany is foolish to get involved in this issue. The idea that Russia will ever surrender the Crimea to Ukraine (or any other power) is ridiculous. No power short of war will force the Russians out of the peninsula.

Not going to happen.

She made Poroshenko a promise her country can’t cash in on.

For Russia, Crimea is a closed subject.
