SELMA, AL (WSFA) - The Selma Police Department has arrested and charged two suspects with capital murder after the suspects shot a victim in the face while allegedly breaking into a vehicle.
Police officers responded to the 500 block of Dallas Avenue at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday in reference to a person being shot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 28-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the face in an alley next to the residence. The victim was stabilized and transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
A witness to the shooting said that the victim and himself were investigating the sounds of loud banging and crashing noises around their residence, when the victim encountered someone hiding in the shadows on their property.
The victim confronted the individual, but was unaware that another individual was hiding in the nearby bushes. The unseen individual fired two shots, striking the victim once in the face.
After a search of the scene, police concluded that the two suspects had broken into a vehicle on the property and had attempted to break into a second vehicle parked on the property.
Detectives received information that 22-year-old Devontae Jiles and 21-year-old Kendarious Brown were involved in the shooting.
Detectives also received information that a suspicious vehicle was parked a block away from the crime scene. Officers began watching the vehicle, and when both suspects approached the vehicle they were taken into custody.

I am the perfect example of a broken home who had no guidance nor direction and named my dog, Selma. I had zero clue what that political issue was about until older. I later joined the US Navy and learned about discipline, self-accomplishment, right from wrong, and integrity.
Guess my point is that I was clueless and lost until the Navy straightened me out. Ferguson was my Selma and Watts Riots locally. People can change.
Ordinarily, I would hunt for mugs to post. But I don't think that is necessary in this case.
I think these murders may be an indication that Eric Holder’s “conversation on race” is under way.
Do they have a Death Penalty in Selma?
Yes they do but it takes about 20 years for judges and lawyers milking taxpayers with trails and appeals before they decide to let them out.
I can’t say about Selma, but the State of Alabama does.
