As soon as his probation is withdrawn he’ll start doing time for the original crime. What was it and what was the original sentence before probation?

I doubt it, unless he has a dozen or more serious convictions. There's overcrowding, and a growing desire to stop sending people to prison for these minor offenses. Besides, he's just a child in a country where racism oppresses blacks.
I sure hope so. But the thing that mystifies me is why they even put people on probation with the stipulation that they report to their probation or parole officers...and never even follow up on it when these people fail to show up for their (very brief) appointments. What good does it do?
