One of the functions and objectives of Common Core is to drag the performance of the normal to smart students down to the level of the underperformers.
That way no one will feel bad at being outperformed by another student.
The lowest common denominator becomes the norm.
Performance beyond that level is punished, not rewarded.
That’s Ok, the school that MY CHILDREN go to WOULD NEVER use those silly Common Core methods (even though they, of course, use Common Core). No the school that MY CHILDREN go teaches math PROPERLY.
How do I know that? Why the nice teachers and administrators told me that and since I saw one of them in my church, I trust them all. They WOULD NEVER harm my kids, no NEVER. - and besides, I’d have to give up that boat (oooh, that boat) if my kids were to go to private school (or be home schooled).

Common Core is all about taking away educational opportunity and tearing down what is. There is no constructive outcome - only chaos and misery. If you don’t understand the enemy you will spin like a top forevermore.

Not only that, but standardized tests will conform to CC, so the children whose parents remove them from CC-based public schools will be at a disadvantage when taking college entrance exams.
I do understand. We are in a war for the soul of the USA that our founders risked everything to give to us.
Unfortunately, about 50% of us are not worthy.
Blame? Hell it’s worse than that, they like dumbing them down, so the society has a ‘level playing field’. Teachers are becoming as dispised as lawyers of late. Leftist thinking is a disease and our education system is dying from the disease. A We The People Republic that cherishes excellence is a threat to the globalists’ new world order, so Amerika will have to be dumbed down and made inferior. Cursive writing? Too hard for the new student population feeding on LOL’s and OTOH and IIRC, with OMG considered an exclamation of merit.
They’ve turned Jim Crow poll tests into an educational curriculum.
I sincerely doubt it. I bet even the Chinese and Russians don’t put their kids through this. I’ll bet even the North Koreans would never heap the misery of Common Core math on their kids!
I think most of the math teachers these days can barely do math themselves.
The guy that wrote the English part of it works at a school that doesn’t use it.
Silicon Valley execs send their kids to schools with no computers....
The next generation won’t be ABLE to read the founding documents. The intelligent, if their families are able, will LEAVE to study for hard sciences, actual math, and research disciplines. And accounting.
A feel good committee that is a waste of money and has no authority to stop
Common Core or change anything. They're only there to get the public off their backs!

i’ve see the “Dear Jack” letter before and thought that was bad, but the first one takes the cake.
THIS! The SATs and every other standardized test is alligned with CC. Homeschooling or opting kids out of Parcc testing means nothing now. Those kids will be at a disadvantage.
Opting out of public, private and Catholic education is really no longer the better option because all will be alligned with common core.
