California, New York and 12 other states are joining in the push to salvage President Obamas plan to grant legal protection to millions of people in the U.S. illegally even if its only revived in their parts of the country.
A federal judge has frozen the immigration program while a lawsuit filed by Texas and 25 other states proceeds. Those states, mostly led by Republican governors, contend Obama is forcing their taxpayers to pick up the financial burden for millions of immigrants.
Now, 14 mostly Democratic-led states some with the highest populations of immigrants eligible for Obamas program are presenting an alternative argument: They say allowing immigrants some protections would actually benefit them, in the form of increased tax revenues and stronger families.
Lawyers for these states and the District of Columbia filed a brief Thursday arguing that a federal appeals court should lift the lower courts order or at least limit its effect to Texas and perhaps the other 25 states that are also suing.
A single state cannot dictate national immigration policy, the states wrote in their legal argument, filed in the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
The filing, part of a legal strategy coordinated with the Obama administration, cements a political rift between red and blue states on the presidents executive action. It also signals an effort by the immigration plans supporters to sustain momentum while the program is held up in court.

“Hmmm... 14 states going for Obama’s amnesty plan and the rest not?”

A federal judge has frozen the immigration program ,so that means ALL STATES
So that means 28% of the states support little O. If senators would vote as representatives of their states in DC, they could over ride any veto by the monster in the whitehut.
The same states that will give Obama his Third Term
So where do the other ‘42’ states stand? ;-)
I have a question. How is allowing these illegals legal status going to “increase tax revenues”? I’m assuming that they are being paid and taxes are being withheld, so this will just allow them to file tax returns and most likely get it all back. Doesn’t every wage earner have to pay federal taxes?
“part of a legal [and media] strategy coordinated with the Obama administration...”
Media wants to be able to sell that “immigrant” demographic and it’s advertisers want to hire them and/or sell to them- so the media will do whatever has to be done to make it happen. Preferably before their next quarterly bonuses are handed out.
More illegals will also translate into more representation in congress.
These 14 states are stupid.
1861 all over again???
Not all back, most likely 10 to 20 times what they paid in. Earn Income Credit provides the poor with thousands of dollars they never paid into the system. A lot of part time workers get 5-15 thousand dollars back while only paying in a couple of hundred. Almost everyone used a false SSN, they will be able to wipe the slate clean and just collect thousands of dollars on their word alone with no proof at all. The creative ones will be getting over $30,000 for the three years.
Problem #1. Arguments from perceived benefits vs. Argument on Constitutional merits. GOP gets sucked into this every time, they can’t win on perceived benefits because all the agencies and organizations lie and propagandize — promising the world, delivering more debt.
Problem #2. The States aren’t suing to control or perform their own immigration policy. States are suing because of non-feasance from the administration on upholding the current laws on immigration. Another problem the GOP has is they abandon the Narrative and allows the opposition to claim it’s about things its not.
I'm assuming they mean Texas, but Texas is not alone in the suit. 27 suing to block, 14 against.
Which appellate court was this filled? The 5th?
It’s 43 other States.
I believe so: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3267634/posts
New York? Not surprised, but it sickens and angers me.
