I remember them making a big to-do over Nancy's designer gowns, as well. Turned out she'd just borrowed the gowns from the designers, like movie stars do at the Academy Awards.

Ah, the good old days when we worried about things like that!

Every penny for the china came from private donations. The press reported that about a year after making a fuss for six months or more about the “insensitivity.”
