IT HAD TO BE HUGH: Why Hugh Hewitt is suddenly the Republican establishment’s go-to pundit.
National Journal ^ | March 13, 2015 | Shane Goldmacher

Before Hugh Hewitt would answer my questions, he had a condition: Through the producer of The Hugh Hewitt Show—his 15-year-old radio program that touts 2 million weekly listeners—he informed me that I would need to first answer his questions, on air.

Hours later, I was live on his show. "I got a note from my producer today, associate producer Marlon, saying you want to meet up with me and do a profile on me, which I think is about as dull as possible," Hewitt said, "but is that true?"

And, too deep into the weeds on religious topics for
my personal taste. Also a big fan of Ohio sports which
is OK but he needs to quit dissing other sports teams as
much as he does. It just gets old and tired. I do like
his court room approach to taking down some lib guests.
But he is not your basic trial lawyer.

“I’ve mentioned this before, but I bailed out on Hewitt when he shut down a caller who was attempting to educate him about the threat of Islam and its fundamental support for the kinds of terrorist acts that the jihadists have been waging. Hewitt threw up a straw man, putting words in the caller’s mouth”

Yes.

That is actuallly the sort of thing that Initially caused me to cool to him. He is intellectually dishonest and abuses, rather than uses, his position as host.

I got turned off to him because of this well before the GOPe/Conservative divide became so clear and an issue.

I’m glad that he went Catholic rather than Mormon.

Hugh is not awesome.

He played a huge role in getting Obama elected and re-elected with his political incompetence.

And he has not learned from it ever.

He is a fine reporter and interviewer.

He knows nothing about politics or political strategy.

I will always remember his guarantee that Dan Lungren was going to win in a landslide in the 1998 CA gubernatorial election.

He is always wrong. Always.

Ansel12, you are STILL full of crap and AGAIN
I will ask you to not respond directly to my
posts. The only reason I am directly responding
to yours is to make sure you get the message. And,
BTW I stand by my position regarding Hewitt. Tell
your conspiracy theory crud walking.

You take your friends as they are. I love Hugh, though, like another poster, my commuting situation has changed and I no longer listen. That said, his powers of prognostication suck. I never understood the reason for the whole “A Mormon in the White House” deal. But the big one for me was his adamant assertion that, while he understood why some were unsatisfied with the Harriet Myers nomination, there was no way Bush was going to dump her.

Huh?

When do you post your response to post 18 and post 16, and what ‘conspiracy” are you ranting about?

As far as your out of nowhere anger, let me guess, your politics are similar to Hugh Hewitt’s and Romney’s? Do you also support Jerry Brown’s wife (Anne Gust) for Governor?

“””I think Anne is among the smartest people I’ve ever met, and I’d like her to run for the U.S. Senate. I might actually support a Democrat, if Anne ran,” Hewitt says. “And when Jerry steps down, I’d like Anne to run for governor because she’s just so smart. She can run California.”””

Now that Romney is all but drained of ambition, Hugh is wiping his chin and getting on his knees to receive some of Jeb’s effluvia of ambition. He wants us to soak in the greatness of Jeb too.

Maybe Hugh had his lips surgically removed from Romney’s butt so he could speak more clearly.

Hugh Hewitt will hang up on a caller if they say obama instead of President obama.

It is just a game with some of the beltway boys.
Politics gives them something to talk about.

Hugh is awesome, not perfect. If conservatives toss out someone like him, we isolate ourselves.

Isolation: For a certain subset, that's a feature, not a bug.

Yep, but they were removed involuntarily, he is still a pro-Mormon guy.
