Thanks for your response to my post. I believe that the
reason polling companies have ongoing panels is that
many of their clients are large companies that pay big
bucks to solve marketing issues. The questionaires
often take more than 20 minutes to complete and it is
difficult to find enough willing consumers to comply.
There are random polls to be sure and maybe Gallup
does some random polling, I don’t know. When they used
to ask me about GW I assume that they were trying to
expand their sample base. Another point could be that
some political organization sponsored those GW polls at the
time and no such organization cares to examine BO in the
same way. Or, if they do ask about Obama then they
already have enough conservatives in their sample size
so I am excluded. I would just say that much of what
large polling do is business driven. I am still suspicious
and have skipped more and more polls as time goes on.
Thanks for your further discussion. I think we both agree that polling is or can be misleading depending on how it is conducted. My only hope is that we can get someone in the WH with some integrity and concern for the country. I know that all people can’t be pleased all the time but good grief, what we have in there now is a complete disaster as well as any Democrat that I have heard anything about possibly having a desire to run for President. Have a wonderful remainder of the weekend!
