White House petition on ‘47 traitors’ draws more than 200,000 signatures

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — A petition on the White House’s web site calling for charges to be filed against 47 Republican senators who sent a letter to Iran’s leaders has garnered more than double the signatures it needs to draw a White House response.

The petition, on whitehouse.gov, was filed Monday and had 214,178 signatures as of mid-Thursday morning. To require a response from the White House, petitioners must secure 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

Some Republicans admit they were caught off guard by the backlash to the letter, which warned Iranian leaders against a nuclear agreement with President Barack Obama. Politico reported Sen. John McCain of Arizona, one of the signers of the letter, said Republicans should have given it closer consideration.

Treason in the west involves an assault on the person or the authority of the sovereign.

In England that meant an assault on person or authority of the king.

In America, it also meant an assault on the sovereign. We The People are supposed to be the sovereign.

The Obamanation has reverted our concept of treason to a pre-constitutional form, in which it meant an assault on one man, the monarch. By charging senators with treason for interfering with the authority of Obama, the Left has implicitly raised Obama to the level of sovereign. We The People are no longer the sovereign.

By them, sovereignty now resides in the PERSON of Obama.

Future elections can only serve to condone Obama’s designated successor.

Democrats visit Iraq, question drive to war / Congressmen want to give U.N. a chance (September 30, 2002)

I guess it's A-OK when Democrats talk to the enemy IN PERSON.

Traitors? What about Jon Kerry, Ted Kennedy...etc, etc..

Ted Kennedy offered his service to the KGB against U.S. during President Reagan administration.

Shameless traitor John Kerry believe he can fool most of the American people all the time.

February 13, 1970 -- Candidate Kerry tells the Harvard Crimson, "I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations," and that he wants "to almost eliminate CIA activity."

Late May or early June, 1970 -- John and Julia Kerry travel to Paris on a private trip. Kerry meets with Madam Win Thi Binh, the Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam (PRG) -- the political wing of the Vietcong -- and with representatives of Hanoi who were in Paris for the peace talks.

April 22, 1971 -- John Kerry testifies on behalf of the VVAW before the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. He claims that American soldiers had "personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan..." and that these acts were "not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command." Kerry also accuses the U.S. military of "rampant" racism and of being "more guilty than any other body" of violating the Geneva Conventions, supports "Madame Binh's points" when asked to recommend a peace proposal, and states that any reprisals against the South Vietnamese after an American withdrawal would be "far, far less than the 200,000 a year who are murdered by the United States of America."

I would LOVE the current administration to try and take them to court. The amount of transparency this would provide for this “treaty” would be epic and make the President and his cabinet look like the cheap hustlers they are.

No one in any branch of government believes the Logan Act applies to Congress.

The Logan Act does NOT trump the Constitution.

Obama is using a distinction between ‘agreement’ which he assumes he has full authority for making as peoples CinC and ‘treaty’ which must be by the Constitution done in collaboration with Congress. Obama is a bigger parser of words and ideas and actions than either Clinton.

The “Change.Org” petition to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson to Top gear is already well over 700,000 signatures. So big deal...

Sadly, those 700,000 people will now be getting liberal propaganda daily in their inboxes.

“Apparently, quoting from our Constitution can now get you labeled “Traitor” by the “low information” (read: Obama voters) segment of the American population...”

We have no Constitution...only magical ink pens and divine rights of Kings.

We should start a petition against Pelousy for going to see Ashat during Bush’s term and again John Kerry for 1985 fiasco.

So... resisting the intentions of this regime to negotiate a non-binding agreement that leaves Iran with nuclear weapons is — in today’s parlance — “treasonous.”

“Go ahead...make my day!”

No legal scholar here, but suppose the 47 Ronin (my term - like it?) are to each be charged with treason, through the U.S. Department of Justice.

It would have to be a Nuremburg style tribunal, only much larger, with legions of not only defense counsels & prosecuting attorneys but legal scholars as well whenever there is an historically unique juridical event as this would be.

The discovery process alone, wielded by 47 defense attorneys, would be an absolute knock down drag out battle with the administration, who would be feverishly declaring every known relevant document or email to be classified information.

Meanwhile, the media would smell the story of the century & conduct a massive fishing expedition to uncover what the regime refused to reveal (and which they would ultimately have to reveal in order to make their case).

In other words, no go. Too big a scene, too heavy. Meanwhile, the signatures will continue to accumulate as every leftwing crazy piles on. The threshold will be achieved, the White House will have to put up or shut up.

Obama will probably appoint a special counsel to do nothing more than do taxpayer-funded oppo on not just the 47 but every other Republican in Congress. Until he leaves office, Obama will be capable of doing world-class mischief such as would dwarf Nero’s burning of Rome.

Here's the same comments I posted in a Yahoo discussion regarding the petition...

I'll bet that if I filed a petition to have Obama deported to his home country, that I could get millions of signatures. Would Obama then be obligated to address the petition?

Stupid is as stupid does, and the petition by that anonymous "C.H.", likely came from Chris Hayes, one of the most radical left-leaning dimwits anywhere, and who is employed by MSNBC as a host and commentator.

An online petition on the official White House site? You’ve got to be joking...what a petty little man, Obama is. I hope this doesn’t escalate into a special hashtag, #EqualBranches
